Just noticed that the N80 is now available from the Nokia website, but they removed everything about it having umts 1900 and only have the one with 2100 on it. This really sucks, I wanted this phone really bad with umts 1900.

I noticed that a couple of days ago myself. Although for me, I feel a little better knowing that if they do release this in the states, it will be the same exact thing as the Euro version that I ordered or worse (if features are turned off by the carrier that is).

Look at it like this. If you've been holding out for the UMTS 1900 version, srew it now. Go ahead and order this beautiful phone. Who knows, maybe more cities will begin city coverage of wifi (I think Philly is or will be like this soon). If that happens, who'll need 3G services anyway? In any case, between my home network and other hot spots, I'm thinking that spending an extra $40 a month on data services might not be worth it.

Anyone else agree? I don't know, maybe ...

I wanted the N80 because I wanted a 3g Nokia so I can tether my laptop to it while I am at work. I have actually wanted the US version of this phone since it was announced. I wont be getting this phone anymore because I already have a 3g Nokia that doesnt work on 3g in the US and there is no point in getting another one.

Yah, no 1900wcdma is a no deal for me. I'm gonna hold out till the HTC Hermes (aka htc tytn, qtek 9600, cht 9000) because it has triband umts, quadband gsm, wifi, WM5. I think it comes out on cingular in september october but i'll probably purchase the i-mate version.

couldn't find where the Qtek9600 specs were written but its based off the HTC Hermes and all the other branded ones are Triband UMTS so i soppose the Qtek branded one will be. Plus Qtek products are gonna be sold under the name HTC in some regions and the HTC TYTN (http://europe.htc.com/products/tytn.php) is triband umts.

Could not find it amongst the Nokia phones for sale. It is still tagged "Comming Soon". Which link did you see it listed for sale.

Thanks

After it having the "buy now" link at the top of the main page for the N80, it was removed late yesterday. That brings a little hope that maybe they are still working on the UMTS 1900 version.

Spoke to Nokia today, the 1900 UMTS phone is not yet available. the service rep said hopfully by the 3rd quarter. he said i should wait since it will have all the configuration [bells and whistles] for the usa. i have waited this long i may wait a little longer. a price drop to 500.00 and less may change my mind.
incidently, www.myworldphone.com is quoted 589.00 plus shipping.

fitzco. have a great weekends all. post some info on your experience to those you bought. i had the opportunity to use one for a couple of hours. it was fun.....
