E61 as VOIP device

I'm very curious to hear about anyone using the E61 as a VOIP phone with Skype, Vonage, etc.

Any problems getting the software to work with Symbian? Or will the built in software sync up?

I am using the services of a company called truphone (no connection, just a user) for my VOIP. The OTA software was a doddle to install and set-up, the service intergrates fully with the E61 op system and automatically recognises and connects to my specified networks when within wifi range. I don't think that skype is fully ready for the E61 yet, although it can be used with a sandwich software layer between a connecting PC and the E61. Not particularly elegant.

Check out www.fring.com

It works over 3G and allows you to use skype, MSN, Google Talk, etc.... voip. Very cool. Works a treat.

I second that 100%. I use truphone as well. I have E61 while my wife has E60. We are an ocean apart for another week. We use truphone to talk to each other and it is absolutely clear and seamless. We will also use it in our new location, so that we will not spend too much money on refilling our prepaid SIMs (both our work places and a new home have Wi-fi). Another beauty of truphone is that you get a US number, so you can give it to your family & friends. They can call you and it is a US call to them, no matter where you are.
