Replying to:  T-Mobile vs. Cingular? by vglow17   Aug 20, 2006, 10:58 PM

I started with Cingular and then unlocked my 8700 and switched to T-Mobile.

Cingular had slightly better signal strength but since I live in a major metropolitan area, that didn't matter much because T-Mobile has towers all over here (southern California) and a roaming agreement with Cingular.

When I switched to T-Mobile, which I did for purely economic reasons (the rate was MUCH cheaper for T-Mobile then and I have since recouped my early termination fees), everything worked fine. Yahoo instant messaging even started working which it would not under CIngular (and it works great).

I recently had to call T-Mobile when I switched back to the 8700 after trying several other different phones and the customer service was outstanding. I waited maybe 2 minutes on hold for the three phone calls I made. Each time they fixed the problem that I called about and did it quickly and efficiently. I spent maybe a total of ten minutes on the phone for the three phone calls that I made and now everything is working great. I have been on sprint and cingular and neither of their customer service is as good as T-Mobile.

I am definitely glad that I made the switch to T-Mobile.
