to make ringtones on iTunes phones ---
go download "power mp3 cutter"
open it. drag in the song you want
to make as a ringtone. the format of
the song has to be mp3 or wav.

then select the part of the song you
want as your ringtone. export it by clicking the folder with a down arrow. name the song. close everything. open "my computer". then open "my music". select the song you want to use as your ringtone. then plug in your phone to your computer. the phone will appear in "my computer" under removable storage devices. click the phone. then drag the song you want as your ringtone into the iTunes folder.

OR,

Just use iTunes itself on the computer...Set start/end points, save as mp3 in low bit rate, transfer to memory card audio folder (not iTunes), and copy to phone memory.

Um, why all the extra steps and special software? It is not hard to make a ringtone from an mp3 or any audio. If anyone has questions about this, just ask me. I work with custom audio.

Hi there,

Depends on which platform you are using (Mac or PC)...Look for the option in the menu that says "get info". You want a window (shows song file info like bit rate ID3 tag etc.) with several tabs, and one of the tabs should say "options" or something like that. When you get to the right tab you'll see a box for "start" and "end" with a checkbox next to each. Open it while you play the song, watch for where the section is, type that in as your start time and CHECK the box...do the same for the end (CHECK box)...Now close the window, play the section and go back to repeat as needed to get it exact...SUGGESTION: Choose "repeat one" in iTunes when doing this...that way you'll hear how it will cut and restart since your ringer will...

i finnaly fugered it out ring tones work great.

Thanks so much. The only thing though is my service doesn't work well with cingular at work. I changed from verizon to cingular because I was getting a poor cingnal at home. After all this I might have to go back to verizon. At least at home I have a land line. Any suggestions on verizon phones that have similar features as the v3i.
