a few questions

hi, since no one is sure when the phone is going to be out and i have to make a decision on plans by the 10th of feb (i plan to purchase a phone from cingular and sell it on ebay and get the v3i) i have just a few questions to ask of those of you who have this phone and use it on cingular.

1. is this anything like the problems encountered when people tried to use the V635 (flashing, flexing) on cingular?

2. is it hard to fix the settings so that you can send text messages and picture and video messages? (i dont use the internet on the phone so if MEdiaNet doesnt work thats not really a problem for me)

3. do you get text messages informing you of when you get a voicemail, like the v635 was doing, or is a normal pop up that says y...

1. I have not flexed or flashed, but I have no problems on Cingular.
2. I have no problems sending text messages and picture messages.
3. I do not receive text messages when I get a VM, just the normal envelope at the top of the screen.
4. I did not purchase any insurance. I understand (but cannot confirm) that the normal Motorola 1-year warranty appies, although I can't say how easy it might be to use a warranty that was intended to apply to users in another country (in my instance, Hong Kong).

oh, thanks alot though for giving me your take.


i noticed you did a review... is it really that noticable that the the software is dragging? like could i, for instance, listen to music and play a game, or text, or anything for that matter, at the same time and still be ok?

The "time delay" is not really all that noticeable. I was comparing it to a Nokia 6230, my previous phone, on which everything seems "instantaneous." I wouldn't worry about it.
