Anyone Tried On Cingular???

I left my GSM Motorola v600 for the Nokia 6682-smart phone (1.3 MP/video capture/Edge, etc.) and it was awful, sold it after a month.

Have always appreciated Moto's product and want this RAZR v3i. Am curious if anyone has tried the unlocked phone with Cingular? I live in California and ebay has many of these handsome guys for about $550.

Thanks all!

V710user,
Please post the instructions on how to set up the browser. I've been looking everywhere for instructions, but so far, no dice. Everybody I've talked to at Cingular Data Support says that the current unlocked V3i does not work with their MediaNet Internet browser.

With your browser enabled, are you able to get the Screen 3, i.e. "Media Net Ticker" to work?

everything works with cingular if you configure the settings correctly. MMS, SMS, media net, yes even the media net home page! The settings are a litle different with the v3i compaired to the v3, have a look on www.motox.info for the cingular settings guide thread in the v3i section for all the tricks.

That would be helpful if you could post the instructions. I purchased the phone through wirelessimports.com for an amazing price.

I found that when I re-connected my old ATT Wireless v600 to Cingular, the same problem-I could not access Web. Nor can I send MMS (picture e-mails or picture text).

Without the web capability, would the same apply? Thank you for your help and instructions.

I got the mms to work but following your listed directions I was not able to get it to work. It tried to connect but came up with a 500 internal error. Any suggestions?

I just posted my MMS settings in the prior thread. They are working for me. If they don't work for others, I have no explanation.

My first response to you that I just read again does not make sense, my bad. The mms works great, thanks for the info. What is not working for me is the web browser nor the media net.

thanks for the mms info.

I am an American currently living in Dubai, U.A.E. I was at lunch today in a nearby mall and saw this phone in several different shops. it sells here for about $350.00. I currently have the V3 and love it. This one seems to be the exact same size and weight and is much nicer looking. I am considering it.

I purchased the phone at saberpoint.com, which seems to have a fairly good price. The connectivy on Cingular has been excellent. It took awhile to get the Internet features to work, and I cannot get much at the Cingular media.net site, but I'm using the mini-opera browser (mini.opera.com), which works great. The MMS also is working now. So, all in all, I'm very happy with the phone. The only "downside" I have found thus far is that music player (which is not iTunes but seems just fine) cannot be operated when the handset is closed (for example, to move to the next song), which is a pain when I'm at the gym. I suspect there is a way to reprogram the music player, but I'm not technical enough to do on my own, and Motorola/U.S. won't help...

Thanks. I read your review too but am curious how you finally got it to work? I put in the settings Cingular gave me (which is the same for the RAZR V3) and I still cannot utilize the MMS or Media net. Could you share with me your settings, or how you finally got it to work? I love the phone-got it through wirelessimports.com and they have no technical help.

Thanks! gc102664@hotmail.com

It took a combination of things. For MMS and internet access, I found the settings in a thread at http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t= 821621. For Media Net, I have never been able to get it to work. Instead, I downloaded the mini opera browser -- www.mini.opera.com -- which seems to perform quite well. Also, if you have trouble, I would call Cingular and ask them to trouble-shoot your settings; the settings are the same for the v3 as the v3i, so just tell them you have the v3.

JLeeve, I read your review on the razr v3i and I agree with you, I should have waited as well until it was released in the united states. However I really like this phone, being forced to use cingular over verizon (work issue) I was unhappy with the service and the phones compared to verizon. So i was very happy to get the sleek phone and the extra features like the voice dialing that i was used to with my moto 710, lg 8100 etc. The problem I face is not being able to send pictures, the media net does not work and I am only able to access the web thru mini opera that I got from you plus using the phone tools. I followed exactly what user 710 said and entered the web settings but i kept getting a 500 internal server error. It looked like ...

I live in California like you and the phone works really well as far as reception goes. Where my 551 would not get reception the new razr has a full signal. Question: Most of the time my phone shows that its in roaming, even though my 551 never showed that. I called cingular and they said that it did not matter since my plan was no roaming or long distance but I am curious why this is happening. I have it set to auto and across the screen it says cingular. Just wanted to see if anybody else has experienced this and had a solution.

thanks ☹️

My phone also says it is roaming; not sure why.

As to the MMS settings, I got them from howardforums.com -- try the Motorola section. There are a number of threads discussing the v3i.

you can cutt the roaming icon off with a simple seem edit...google for XLR8's seem guide or go to www.motox.info to the v3i section for help.

So how successful can one be at getting all the proper Cingular settings (MEdia Net, MMS, etc) on a unlocked V3i? What are the road blocks thus far? This thread is so huge, I can't quite get a definitive answer.
