T-Mobile

I know we are all guessing it will be a Cingular Exculsive, but I talked to the T-Mobile rep at a T-Mobile Store in California and he said that they are currently testing the V3i on the T-Mobile network right now. Interesting if the phone is a Cingular Exclusive.

Not that you are completely on crack, not that the store rep himself was on crack or was in anyway mentally damaged or anything, but what does he know? Just because someone works for a company does not necessarily make them an "industry insider". Why would a sales rep in a store know anything about whether or not T-Mobile is testing a device in a lab somewhere? Yeah, he's gonna know stuff about T-Mobile, what's just around the corner, what changes are going to be made soon, etc. Me, for example, I work for Cingular business care, I know lots of things about the industry that aren't public knowledge yet, but I'm by no means someone with a wealth of trade secrets. It is possible, even probable, that T-Mobile is testing the phone. But wou...

No that you are a complete ass or anything, but you could at least have tried to be respectful. You must work for customer service. I can see why most of my friends stay away from Cingular now. Thanks for helping me stay away from Cingular.

You know what, you're right: my statment was a bit abrasive.

Honestly, I'm sick of hearing - either directly or indirectly - complete BS from store reps. Some (not ALL, mind you) are prone to act that they are intimately familiar with all the dealings of the industry. "Yeah, we're gonna get that phone, the guys over in the lab are testing it right now..." Also, with many (again, not ALL) Cingular & third party reps that I deal with, they're far more interested in making a sale and/or getting commission. Cingular is great about marketing their products & services, but pretty lame about backing up what they sold. I've heard store reps tell outright lies to customers, and often have to deal with customers that have had the reality of the...

Based on you nice apology, I too must apologize for my outburst in response. Calling you names was inappropriate and I apologize. In reference to the store rep here, I will defend him and say, he didn't say for certain they would get the phone, but that they were testing it, but it could still end up as a Cingular exclusive, if Cingular paid for it. So, he at least acknowledged he didn't know what would happen. And I am sorry for bashing you as a Cingular sales person. I know Cingular has been bashed a lot and I really pride myself in not taking part in that. After all, it's a business. Please accept my sincere apologies for calling you names. I would however like your opinion on whether you think Cingular will get the V3i as an excl...

Hey, I was sort of out of line, and I didn't say it in the nicest way.

Will Cingular get the phone? Probably - they're willing to spend the money & they have a good relationship w/Moto, but I'd be very surprised if TM DIDN'T get it eventually. The store rep is probably right, but it's more likely a guess than "priveledged info".

BTW -I'm not a sales person, I do (mostly) tech (& some billing) support, so I don't get commission, and I have no problem saying that Cingular sucks (certain things, at least).

Just a real quick shout out. We are not all the devil (though some of us are). We do our best with the limited info that we have.

As for the tech support and cs people - they tell customers blatantly wrong things everyday. I have had them tell me things that were blatantly wrong and then get mad at me when I didn't believe them. If you would like examples I have TONS!

So maybe none of us are perfect.

And Cingular is a good company, they get good service. And some of their sales reps care!

Again, not ALL Cingular Reps, are evil I never said that, and I wouldn't even begin to say that cust service people are wonderful (even in Business care, we have a whole call center that is not looked upon favorably), but if there is anyone out there (regardless of company) that is more apt to lie/skew/manipulat the facts to keep a customer's business, it's the reps in the store. "Oh yeah, we're getting that phone, sign up for service now & you can get it as an upgrade when it comes out. . ." stuff like that. I stand by my previous apology, by the way - no use in stirring up old conflicts.

I am a manager with Cingular's After Hours/Customer Care/Relocations/Combined Billing departments (yes, we have that many queues in one call center) and I must say that at least 9 out of every 10 store employees that I have to deal with on a daily basis are complete liars. I dread every second of having to deal with a store representative for several reasons:

1. THE OBVIOUS - They lie more than anyone I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with in my entire life.

2. They (mostly) are ignorant. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but when you are truly ignorant and pretend like you're not, that's when I have a problem.

3. They do not stand behind what they sell. Do you know how many escalations I've had to handle because the store ...

Try going to VZW. They lie and are jsut as stupid as any. The only thing better is tech support in stores where you can instantly swap a phone. 😎

You are a little unnecessarily rude.

As a sales rep I actually work hard for my customers. I try very hard to be up on the phones and plans and all the things necessary for my job.

Everyday I have to deal with call center people who have no idea what they are doing. Often I will get someone who will tell me I can't have them do what I want them to do and I will just call back a second later and have someone else do it for me.

I am an authorized agent, perhaps the reps at the corporate stores are different. But all the guys that work with me work hard and are very helpful.

My 2 cents:

Actually, I usually find T-Mobile store reps proudly ignorant of knowing much of anything. They are usually at least marginally pleasant, but other than the names, ranks, and serial numbers of the phones on display, and the plan types, they seem to know a lot less about their company and its product plans than your average Phonescoop.com reader.

That's about my bigget complaint about T-Mobile, though. The call center people are slightly better. I have had Verizon and Cingular also. Verizon call center staff tends to be great, but the people who staff the stores, especially here in NYC, are awful, awful, awful, which is why I switched. I actually found the Cingular in-store staff comparable to T-Mobile (for better or wo...

The RAZR now is carried by Cingular and T-Mobile. What makes you thing it will be a Cingular EXCLUSIVE?

the keyword is NOW. the razr was a cingy exclusive for a year before t-mobile got hold of it. the v3i will be too. ESPICALLY since it has itunes. 😁

thats what makes me THING it will be a cingy exclusive. 🙄
