The Blade by Samsung puts this razr to shame!
...
Any info on teh Samsung Blade? π
...
Here's a problem. Voice Dialing on Samsung SUCKS, big-time. I had the VZW Moto e815 and Sam a850, both which have 3rd party Voice Dial Software (same). It was horrible. Got nothing right and kept sending to text. When I contacted Samsung, I got a run-around. Changed phone - same results. I am a 8100 user. Love the phone, but VZW doesn't seem to care about fixing the problems. Best thing about phone, Voice dialing is never wrong. Hardly have to go to 2nd choice. π

You really think the Blade puts the V3i and V3c to shame? Looking at the three by comparison, I would have to go with the Motorolas. The outer display looks better on the Motorolas, they have the expansion card, and music. I don't think the Blade really holds up to the new RAZRs. Just an opinion mind you.
...
the exterior screen? what are you talking about? The exterior screen on the blade is 96 by 96 and the moto is 96 by 80 the blade is tft and isn't the moto stn. The interior of the blade is qvga and very large 2.2 which the moto doesn't even come close to. the blade has a 1.3 mega pixel camera and the moto 1 mega pixel. The moto has that ugly lip at the bottm and the blade doesn't. removeable memory is the only thing the moto has over the blade and if you think that makes it better good for you.
...
Well my moto RAZR has a 1.3 mega pixel camera πand Blue tooth (full OBEX)
...
Your V3 has a 1.3 megapixel camera?
...
Maybe a 1.03 mp camera. I haven't seen any razr with a 1.3 yet.
...
The new CDMA version the RAZR v3c does have a 1.3 mp camera
...
yea but the v3c still is the worse razr out on the market. the v3i has a 1.23 mp camera which is only .7 mp off and thats not to bad
...
In terms of sheer tech, you're totally right. Lest we forget, that a phone should work firstly as a phone and secondly as a toy. The v3i is a great toy. And I hope you enjoy those hundred songs when you can't place a call in a clear meadow on a sunny day. I mean c'mon, all of us are with verizon for one reason man and it sure ain't the toys.
...
The exterior screen appears to be clock only. What use is that? If it is capable of display great, but it doesn't look like it.
...
Please be real here. That screen is the default clock. Even with the clock it still beats the razr.
...
In your opinion. I still believe that the V3c and V3i are better phones. cheers.
...
Don't step on that lip while your pouting!
...
Why would I pout? It's my opinion that the Blade isn't as good of a phone as the V3i or V3c. Your opinion is to the opposite, which I respect. If you don't like my opinion, that's fine, but at least give me the respect I have been affording you.
...
This argument is pointless! Both of these phones are good phones, one doesn't really have any big advantage over the other, and lets face it ... they are essentially the same phone. But as a Razr owner I would take the Razr over the Blade any day! Better to have the original then a Razr knock off. π
...
To be honest, most phones now a days are really good. If I were to use Sprint as a carrier, I might consider getting the Blade. I wasn't even trying to argue, just stated my opinion. Can't help it if other people want heated discussions.
...
Maybe your right if the razr was with anyone besides cingular it would be a good phone. To bad the service makes the phone bad. Do you all no what a QVGA screen is. Go check out a blade then figure out one aspect the Blade has over the razr beside being on a better service.
...
I can't say too much on Cingular. I use T-Mobile. Yes I do know what QVGA is. That is something that the Blade has. But once you compare the three phones. All three have their pluses and minuses. So, it's really in what you want. Now me, I normally like Motorola phones, but I am really impressed with the T809. Light weight, slim, good features, and decent talk time. I really don't like comparing CDMA phones to GSM phones normally, but I think this is as good as the Blade and either of the new V3's coming. What did you think of the T809?
...
Nice looking phone, wish it were coming to sprint. I have the a800 but I perfer the flip style phone. The one thing about gsm phones is the ability to change phones so easily. You can't do that with cdma.
...
I hear that it is a little more difficult to change CDMA phones. I never used one. I know that they say the sound quality is better on CDMA though. I think you're propably right, that the only thing GSM has over CDMA is ability to change out SIM Cards. Other than that, it looks like CDMA is better in speed and sound quality. I have stuck with GSM because I travel a lot and never know when I might have to go overseas to the heavily dominated GSM world. If I go, I can just buy a minute to minute SIM Card for use while I am there.
...
if all features to the phone were the same..id go blade...simply because samsung makes far better equipment then motorola. that counts for alot.
...
I keep hearing Samsung and Nokia make better equipment, but I have never experienced it that way. My mother had a Nokia, nothing but problems. My friend had a Samsung, it last about 4 months before it had problems. I have had Motorolas the whole time and never had an issue. To be honest, I think they are all about the same quality wise. But I have dealing with Motorola for almost 15 years and really like their equipment. Nothing against Samsung, it took a while, but I have warmed up to them and I am looking at buying the T809, but I haven't had a lot of good experienes with them. I hear all of these nightmare Motorola stories and I guess I should be thankful I never had any problems. We'll see how Samsung treats me when the T809 come...
(continues)
...
well lets hope that treats u good..that phone looks very nice. Ive never beena huge samsung fan myself but from the exp in my life samsung is far more reliable then moto..but that might just be me. I hope your newer samsung changes your mind..cause it does look like a winner.
...
Nope, it's not just you, everyone seems to think Motorolas are less reliable. Ok, everyone but me. I am hoping the new Samsung changes my mind too. I still don't care for Nokia though. π
...
I've never had a reliable cell phone. I've had SBC, AT&T, Cingular and now T-Mobile. Cust Svc T-Mobile is the best and has great family rates. My old nokia was just a tool. 3390 or something like that. You could chunk 100yrds and put the case back together and still work. Samsung: e105 went through 3 new phones in a month. 3rd finally stopped dying on my. wiring was bad on those. the 3rd lasted a year till I broke the antenna. My motorola I have now has had multiple problems with connecting and staying connected to network. My wife's Moto v300 all the sudden died 12 days after our 1yr warrenty passed. I just want a flip phone that makes good clear calls with T-mobile and no external antenna. π

Samsung's CDMA handsets are generally well made, reliable, and feature rich. Their GSM handsets, however, tend to be of dubious quality. This isn't suprising considering they are a Korean manufacturer with a strong home CDMA market. Motorola's quality of handset seems to vary widely from phone to phone. Their high-end phones tend to be well built, but often suffer from software issues early on. That being said, I like my v551 very much, and am happy with my Cingular service. Were I on Sprint, the Samsung might be of interest.
...
Having used both CDMA and GSM phones for significant amounts of time, I would say that the sound quality on CDMA phones is slightly better but not enough to be the defining reason I would choose one over GSM. If you never leave the US, then CDMA might have enough of an advantage to entice you. However, if you like getting the newest phones when they come out, it's hard to argue against the simplicity of just changing out SIM cards on GSM phones vs having to go to the store or call up customer care on CDMA devices.
...
ive always thought the call Q of CDMA was better but it seems if GSM is doin something right. Tmobile has won a few areas in the us for JDPower ..for call quality so someone seems to think GSM sounds good. Ive been using Sprint for 6 years, ive never been disapointed in the sound but only GSM carrier ive ever used (borrowed) was cingular and i did notice a diff in the call ...which would be one reason I wouldnt ever pick them here in seattle if i had to pick someone other the sprint.
...
GSM technically uses a higher bitrate vocoder, and so in uncrowded areas with good signal, it can TECHnically sound better, but of course that all depends on the sound hardware in your handset. CDMA in practice usually does sound better because although it has a lower bitrate vocoder, it doesn't degrade nearly as much with distance from tower.
...
CDMA vs. GSM
I'd rather have the GSM Razr than any CDMA phone.
...
The Razr is a waste of $. Its a trendy POS that can't even function as a phone. Its all about the A900!
...
My RAZR functions as a phone just fine. Assinine statements from a Samsung Fanboy. How typical.
...
Don't forget - NO EDGE!
...
Their is a reason why the RAZR is very popular. It might not have all the features of the Blade. But when the Blade came out u could now compare the Razr against another phone. The Razr's futuristic creative design puts the Blades bland design to shame. All Motorola has to do is keep updating the model for up to date features which will eventually beat the Blade. Sorry. π
...
im sry but the blade sucks. it may have a few better features but a 3 hour talk time and a 3 day stand by is just not accepable. that right there limits all the good capabilitys if u talk on the phone a normal amount. and it looks like a cheap nockoff, really lame imo
