Ok, just got my a900 today...
I tried to load on mp3's and was only able to load on 9... 😢
Can it fit more?
If not, I'm going to return it... nice phone, but not worth it if it can't hold more than 9 songs... ☹️

if you load on your own songs you can only put on about 9 or 10, however if you download the song from the sprint music store you can hold also more, about 30-40. the songs are 3 for 5 dollars through the sprint music store, if you are going to return the phone for a better music phone I would suggest the A920 if you like samsung phones, because it has a removable memory card, it also has the outside controls on it, there is also the LG fusic that has ipod like controls on it that has ipod like controls on the front of it, but i find that LG phones don't have as good of reception as the samsung phones do.

thanks andy1234,
another problem i've noticed is that with these songs on, I can no longer take pictures because the memory is full... ☹️ will this improve by using the music store (which the prices are a little high (3/5 x 30 = 50$)or is there a better way to do all this?

are all mp3 phones like this? maybe I just shouldn't stick with them untill they improve.

if you use the music store you will have more memory for taking pictures, however the problem with the music store is that you can't put those songs on any other device except your computer. which is a bad thing. if you are looking for a phone that will hold alot of songs, I would suggest the A920 by samsung, you can get a 512MB transflash card on ebay for about 30 dollars, or a 1GB for around 40 or 50 if you know where to look for them. this will allow you to have many more songs on your phone. and still be able to take pictures too. I would also look into the LG fusic, although like I said before I don't really like the reception on the LG phones, but thats just me, the fusic has ipod like controls on the front and uses a micro SD card whi...

I can fit around 2-4 CD's worth on my A900

I compress the music to 56-64 kb joint stereo (mon both channels)

the quality is more than good enough for a phone mp3 player and you can fit many many more songs.

I convert my mp3s to 32 KBps, mono AAC files using iTunes. I think I have about 4 hours of music using this method. the sound quality isn't amazing--but if you're listening on speaker phone or with the bundled headphones, you're not going to get great quality anyway, and I'd rather have more music. It sounds better than streaming audio over Orb. (which you should check out if you have an unlimited data plan) Orb.com and you can stream your ENTIRE music library from computer (Windows only for now) to your phone.

You can hold more but you must decrease the actual size of the mp3s. You can do this by decreasing the bitrate or using a different format (AAC for example). I do all of this with iTunes which is PC or MAC compatible and very easy to use.
