Easy way to extend battery life

Easy way to extend battery life on the standard battery is to simply turn off the locator. The locator is not needed and serves no purpose unless you get lost you can call 411 and get directions. Other than that, the locator has no purpose for Sprint. For those of you that live in E911 areas, the E911 dispatch will STILL be able to see your location with the phone locator turned off. I turned mine off months ago and my battery lasts about 3 or 4 days with normal talk time.

To turn off the locator:

MENU
SETTINGS
OTHER
LOCATION
Then just turn it off.

I know everybody complains about battery life but it has been stated on the professional reviews that battery life shouldn't be relied upon the bars. The one review even said tha...

Actually with the new Family Locator Plan, the Location device needs to remain on.

Yes, that is true. But for those families that don't trust their own children, I would hope they would simply call instead of spying on them.

Great idea in theory and I am sure many families will use it but if I want to know where someone is, I simply call them and ask. If they lie, the lie eventually surfaces.

Ever since I turned off my locator and got rid of Vision (I don't understand why anybody needs vision when there is a computer on every corner), my battery life is 3 days, pushing 4 with normal 60 minutes worth of calls a day.

Hahaha I love this quote, "But for those families that don't trust their own children, I would hope they would simply call instead of spying on them."

Anyway... turning that off doesn't prevent 911 from knowing where you are? Wow... I thought it did.

E911 is not disabled by turning off the locator. The locator is used by Sprint. For example, when you call 411 to get directions or buy movie tickets or what ahve you, Sprint can pinpoint you (somewhat) when the locator is turned on.

But, remember, there are numerous cities and communities where E911 is NOT effective due to outdated systems.

The FAA can track airplanes better with their antequated radar than the E911 system can track an immobilized vehicle/cell phone user.

I love Miami. I always stay right off of Lincoln. But, I do remember the days when my cell phone wouldn't work in miami about 10 years ago because of cloning. They just turned everybody's off that wasn't from Florida.

I would call your police dispatch and I am sure the Sheriff's office handles 911 in Miami as well.

I just turned it off.

This is my first day with this phone... I traded for it with my sister this morning and she said that she charged it overnight.

It's already down to 1 bar... But I dunno how long that bar will last... Plus I've been messing with it all day.

Playing with all day will kill battery life on this telephone. If you are not a Vision user, then disable Vision as well. I do not use Vision myself since there is now a computer almost in every home, every block of the world... well...I am stretching it a bit, I know. The battery tends to eat up the first bar rather quickly...and sometimes the second bar as well. The third bar tends to last a lot longer.

Overall, I hate the telephone anymore....but not because of the battery life.

Yeah. I use Vision daily...

I'm on the last bar right now... Kinda worried. I'll see how long the last bar lasts.

I usually turn it off out of paranoia/stubborness but I have since left it on (the mapping feature in on demand is neat.

I have noticed no appreciable difference in battery life.

Yeah the batter life sucks but I always plugged my phone in daily anyway so unless I forget to its not noticed.

the ONLY thing I wish my a900 had was a Transflash Card slot especially with 2gb cards available now. DAMN I hate not having that slot but I don't want to lose the 320x240 screen by going back to my a920 :-(
