1) I like this phone, but I'm a bit disappointed in the following:

- Proprietary cable for headphone jack, can't use my favorite headphones or connect to cassette adaptor for car MP3 use.

- Would REALLY like to change sound for slide and message functions, don't think it's possible..(?)

2) USB - It's set to file access (or whatever.. not Modem), but doesn't show as a drive in My Computer. I suspect this is a problem on my computer, but not sure. I am currently having to remove the microCF card and insert into a card reader to move files.

Regarding Question 2 - it has to be your PC. I've been able to toggle between file manager with no problem (Menu-9-USB Settings). Ensure you hook the cable to your phone before you hook it up to your PC. Other than that, it's your PC not being able to recognize the USB drive,

Thanks for the info. It actually turned out to be a bug in Windows XP related to having to many mapped drives, or something like that. Once I removed some of my mapped drives, everything started working as expected.

I still haven't found an audio cable, and I'm not as concerned about the slider tones, as I've turned almost all tones off (slider, menu, etc.) at this point.

I bought one with a microphone/talk button from some japanese retailer... ended up costing barely over 10$CAD. Works relly well! d820 has great sound quality.
