Verizon User: This is BULL

Hey, everyone heard of the new Nokia 6265 slider that should be coming out? It has the same slider format as this Samsung:

Nokia 6265
Display Type:
LCD (Color TFT/TFD)
Colors: 262,144 (18-bit)
Size: 240 x 320 pixels

Dimensions:
3.86" x 1.89" x 0.87" (98 x 48 x 22 mm)

Bluetooth: Yes

One difference: It won't ever come out! Nope! It shows it's little head, but when it realizes its a Verizon phone, it crawls back in it's hole for another 6 months of Winter!
Obviously, when phones like this Samsung come out, every little GSM owner should be proud, the one time they can be.

GSM is the world standard, my friend. CDMA is pure garbage. Verizon does have top notch customer service, as they should, because they need to have superior customer service when their phones won't work in half of the places a GSM phone will work.

And how is CDMA garbage? Granted, it doesn't have the world-wide roaming capabilities, but what percentage of US citizens does that really impact? Verizon does offer GSM rentals if need be. CDMA offers more cell tower call capacity and better call quality. In addition, the technology is advancing much faster than GSM in the US.

I'm sorry, VZW's 1xEvDO kicks GSM GPRS's arse. With 300-500kbs who needs roaming? 😁

That being said I'm currently a VZW customer and soon will switching to T-Mobile to pick up the T809 since I don't really need my phone for data anymore. VZW seriously needs some phones that don't suck. At least they (finally) have the RAZRv3.

In 2006, when Cingular releases 3G nationwide, it will definitely be the new standard that NOBODY will even come close to touching.

Indeed. HSDPA will rock EVDO's socks. T-Mobile USA has admitted though, that we are going to wait for the WCDMA band(s) to become available... which will take a few years. I am jealous of Cingular's 3G Network, but I really do not like their service. (calls drop constantly.) Plus, when T-Mo comes out with their UMA handsets and routers, we will be set.... although this handset will suck at that point. (not UMA) 🙂

No its not, cdma is ok. But the fact is gsm will advance much faster than cdma. It is the world standard and all people.

I call myself a GSM advocate, and I love Tmobile but I can't agree with that. While GSM IS a world standard, currently, CDMA phones still have pretty good quality. I'm using an example, my wife while with ATT was on a CDMA phone and it got better reception in our home than my Razr, my E715 and my Nokia, something, I forget. Oddly enough since they switched to Cingular, even though technically the phone should be on the same towers, the quality has crumbled, and I get better reception than her with my V360....but alas, my point is that CDMA isn't as horrible as people may think it is. It's no longer crowded, congested network, so the quality of the calls have increased.

Well. Verizon being on of the only TDMA/CDMA networks in the world is going to have some issues with manufactures making phones for them when there is much more money in the GSM market. Thats just something your going to have to deal with when you are a Verizon customer...
