I installed the sync software and have no problem w/ sync to my windows PC. But it won't sync to my outlook exchange server.

We set up my settings to include our server and filled in my log in info that all seems right.

when i try to sync using active sync it says this;
"exchanger server

Sync...: none

Windows PC

Sync...: today 11:57am

Attention required

when i click on it i get this i get this message

"exchange server

cannot connect with current connection settings to check settings.....

view support code"

when i click on the view support code

it gives me "support code: 0x85020010".

How should i be syncing to get my treo to sync to the exchange server?

I had the same issue with Activesync and my 700. I could not Activesync via USB cable or wirelessly to my Exchange Server. We run Exchange 2003. Also, Wirelesssync failed to work properly.

When I called Verizon, they could not support the issue. The tech called Palm with me on conference and Palm refused to provide support. What a joke.

The 700 is going back because it is absolutely worthless without the wireless syncing options. The most pathetic thing is Activesync not working with Exchange 2003. Also activesync IS NOT PUSH. You have to schedule its connectivity with the server at certain intervals. CRAP!!! Say goodbye to your battery life.

Stick with the 650 or the Blackberry if you want anything to do with email, calen...

We also run Exchange Server 2003. I talked to VZW b/c sync to the exchange server did not work nor did wireless sync. VZW transfered me to Palm support I was on hold for an hour and hung up. I am considering returning the 700 as well b/c the push email is a key feature for me.

Is it true the only way to get PUSH is to have my own PC logged in at all times? That is what I am told by VZW. That is bunk I can not do that. Can we run a PC at work that we leave on for all our users at work to use the same one?

any help is apreciated.

EAS is up to the EU to figure out, but it does work just perfectly fine, i used it with 2-3 servers. DO NOT USE THE WIRELESS SYNC SOFTWARE!! Setup Exchange Active Sync using the active sync software on the phone. It does push and realtime update. Never install that wireless sync software, its from verizon and its buggy and i do not reccomend it.

Ok I am removing active sync you are right it sucks.

now how do i set up ESA w/ active sync? I did not find it in my manual or on palms site.

i waited 1.5 hours yesterday for palm support and gave up. what are the tricks to get it help?

thanks again you might yet convince me to keep the 700w b/c it does kick ass in my opinion except for this issue.

You have to have the latest version of Exchange Server to support WM5. Unfortunately, I am not exactly sure what version that is because I am not the system administrator.

Mine works fine. I never installed the VZW wireless sync software (just Microsoft ActiveSync). If you look at the scroll list for how often you sync, you can set it to "When a message arrives". You do have provide it a device address, which is your ten digit phone number@vtext.com. Then the Exchange Server sends your device a notice to sync. You never see it, but it works perfectly well.

Service Pack 2 for Exchange 2003 added the compatibility for features introduced in Windows Mobile 5.0

The mobility enhancements in SP2 give you:

Ӣ New seamless Direct Push Technology e-mail experience. No longer is there a reliance on short message service (SMS) to notify and ensure that your device automatically retrieves new e-mail from your Exchange server. SP2 uses an HTTP connection, maintained by the device, to push new e-mail messages, calendar, contact, and task notifications to the device.

Ӣ Additional data compression translating to a faster experience when sending and receiving messages and reduced sync times.

Ӣ Additional Outlook properties, including support for task synchronization and pictures in your list of...

Just a point of clarification...

All of those features listed in the previous post do become available when using MS Exchange 2003 SP2 however most of them aren't usable until Microsoft releases the MSFP (Messaging and Security Feature Pack).

More info can be found here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/business/5/de ... »

Basically you'll find out that all of the great features like remote wipe of the device and ACTUAL push email (not hidden SMS messages) won't exist until MS releases this patch AND VZW takes the time to create an update for WM5 on this device.

[It is my understanding that MS is still working on the final touches for the MSFP and hasn't released it to VZW yet. If anyone has more information please fe...

You can actually go to www.wirelesssync.vzw.com and setup and account there to sync with. You can setup a pop or imap account on the website and it will check your mail every 15 minutes. When mail arrives it will push it to the 700 automatically. This is a way to do it without leaving a computer on and if you dont have exchange 2003.
