Is there any improvement to signal strength?

I am not so concerned with screen size or other complaints. I like the treo 650 - was thinking about getting the i730 but I use the camera feature a lot. Not just for leasure but for biz. My two problems are:

1. Palms OS - don't like it. Would prefer WM 5.0

2. Signal - I drop calls and usually have on average 1 bar in signal strength.

Question is: with the addition of the EV-DO feature - was there an increase in signal quality with the Treo 700? My Moto E815 had full bars where I live. If not - does anyone have experience with Samsung's i730 in terms of reception? Do you anticipate the i830 will be better?
Thanks

despite what people might say about the signal reception of the new Treo 700w, it does seem to be a little better than the 650. My 650 got 3 bars in my condo. the 700w gets full 4 bars. Take that with what you will.

Thank you. I am going blind in these forums. People can't communicate. You'd think that if you ask a question you'd get a straight forward answer.

I have another question: One strenth of the 650 I've found is the ease of navigation through the menus and making calls and looking up contacts. Does WM 5.0 make these tasks more tedious? I stopped by the VW store and played around with it for a bit. Seems a bit more work but maybe because I am not used to it.

Thanks again...

here ya go... Wall Street Journal 1/5/2006
The link goes far to the right and I am not
sure if it will translate to allow you
to click on it... Don't recall about signal strength but it talks about the keystrokes
needed for certain operations.

I had the 650 since the day it came out. i have had no problems with signal strength. I just go the 700 a couple of days ago and still no problems. If anything, I can hear the other person better. I had problems hearing people on the 650. It was kind of muffled.

That WSJ article is tough to read. REMEMBER this is NOT a Palm OS product. Those of you looking for something along the lines of Palm OS should stay with their Treo 650's. WM 5.0 brings alot of new strengths and weaknesses to the Treo platform.

Personally having used 3 Treo 650's I have to say that the Treo 700w is far and away the better of the two. Better reception, better earpiece volume (i keep mine at 4 and it goes up to 6 and I live in NYC!) and EV-DO. It's not without flaws, but I keep it for the simple fact that for the 8 days I have had it...It has locked up on me just once. The 650, it would do that at least 4 times a day. Simply checking email on the 650 would be cause for a reset. I even dropped my 700w the other day...
