Since the phone has been released, ok, i do work for palm, i work in the level 2 tech support department. Ive personally had a fully functioning phone for about 2 weeks now, some people up to 4 weeks. We are finding issues just like the rest of you, don't expect us to have all the answers if you call in.

The main problem we have is activesync 4.1, if you plug the phone into your PC without installing the CD first, you will be in trouble.

This phone is not designed to be a multimedia handheld. This is a business phone made for the corporate enviroment to take over the Blackberry market. Do not rant or complain if it locks up on you doing multimedia intensive tasks, the phone was not designed for it. The screen size was not made 32...

I am not looking for multimedia. So that is not a consideration for me. I tried out the phone at a Verizon store and was extremely impressed with the speed of it. For me a drawback is the bulk (weight and thickness), but that's just part of the package.

In another thread I was asking about EVDO because at my home I found that I am too much on the margin and the constant switching back and forth to/from 1X kills my battery. I found that in spades with the Samsung i730, the Blackberry 7130e, and the RAZR V3c. At least with the RAZR, I found the secret steps on another forum to force it into 1X mode. My battery life went from a day to three days. I suspect that could happen with the 700 also, but that is a function of the radio design. Do y...

Soarer: Have you had any complaints about weak signal strength and dropped calls? Verizon has a good signal in my area yet I had zero to one bar and frequent dropped calls over 2 weeks of use. I returned it to VZN yesterday and am now using a 650 on another network.

I don't need MM but did prefer the WM features and mobile Word, Excel and PPT.

VZN says the problem is the device, not their signal. I'm wondering if I simply had a defective unit? They refused to extend my two-week guarantee, so I was unable to try a different unit.

TIA for any info.

I have the device and I also am in Newport. I have no problem, even way down in Canyon Park and even along the dead zone near Sage Hill School

Perhaps my unit was defective. I'm in The Bluffs/Eastbluff. Cell signals are a are a known problem here but Verizon is the stongest - T-Mobile is the worst. My mother's VZN phone gets 3 bars here whereas my 700w got zero to one.

The other location that had a lot of dropped calls was my office in Duarte. Again, I got zero to one bar. In my two weeks, those were the two primary places I used it.

VZN CS said the store where I bought it could possibly extend my trial period. When I called the VZN kiosk at Circuit City on Friday afternoon the man I spoke with said the guarantee is only 15 days from the purchase of the first phone and wasn't willing to consider an extension.

However when I returned the phone and cancelled my servi...

Good luck. I have found the manager and employees of the Verizon store on Harbor in Costa Mesa very helpful. I had a bad experience with using an independant rep and will only use Verizon direct. They have the best network, being that it is the oldest cellular network in LA, the original Pac Bell Cellular.

Does anyone know when/if Palm is making a GSM version of the phone for Cingular? I have a tough time with Verizon network in the northeast whereas Cingular has no problems.

Please advise, I love what is being said about hte phone and want to enjoy it myself!

Thanks

July 6th at the earliest. Verizon has a 6-month exclusive on this product, and I believe they launched on January 6th.

Mr. Tech 2 Support... The phone should not lock up just sitting why does it do that. Or just letting it charge in the desktop charger overnight.
