I am having some trouble sending email from my device. I'm pretty sure it has to do with the POP settings being wrong, more specifically, the SMTP settings. Does anyone know what SMTP server to use on Verizons network for Gmail? The Gmail SMTP settings do not work.
When I had my Cingular Treo 650 the Gmail SMTP settings did not work on that device either...something about email originating from the Treo being regarded as spam.
If anyone can help that would be great. And please don't respond by saying that this device is a POS and that I shoulda spent my money elsewhere or that WM 5.0 sucks or anything like that. This is probably the best WM 5.0 device I have ever used. And that is just a personal opinion (one handed operation ...

I have an i730 and I use adelphia.net email. I had to change my outgoing mail server settings to smtp.vzwmail.net. Also had to use custom outgoing settings. I dont know if WM5 has the option for custom outgoing settings beyond the general incoming and outgoing mail server info. If it does try using yournumber@vzwmail.net and the password is the password that you would use at vtext.com. If you havent set up a vtext.com profile, now is a good time. Also make sure that the 'outgoing mail requires authentication' box is checked ( if available in wm5). This worked for me with all of my adelphia.net accounts. Hope you can use something out of it. did you enable pop mail in the webmail site for gmail?? if smtp still fails just use the vzw smtp, its not blocked

and follow the directions exactly and still nothing. I have a vzwmail.net password and it works on vtext, pix msging and vzwmail. I don't know whats wrong. I guess I'm gonna have to call tech support.
