Wifi problems

Hey guys,

I have a 802.11b wifi setup in my house. I tried to connect to my house wireless network but it says its unavailable. Is the wifi on the phone on G wifi standard?

Hi, Guru,

I had this same problem with my wife's xv6700 and the answer for me turned out to be surprisingly simple. (Most home networks are 802.11g and the phones are 802.11b, but this is fine, because the 11g standard is compatible with 11b.)

After several exasperating trial & error sessions, I stumbled onto the solution, in my case at least. I have not set up encryption on my network (though I now use MAC ID filtering and don't broadcast the name of the network)
and it turned out that I therefore had to disable encryption on the xv6700.

Once I did that, the wifi worked instantly. However, the setting is buried pretty deep:
