wi-fi verizon still charges minutes?
I just got off the phone from a tech support of verizon and he told me that even if i use my own hot spot such as at star bucks ill still be charged data or minutes becuase of some transmitting trough verizon wireless. can someone confirm this?

Just so you know i'm a verizon data support rep.
The rep you spoke to unfortunately misinformed you.
WiFi is a totally different technology and uses a completely different frequency. There is no data usage on the verizon network while you are using a wifi connection.
Also you are not able to use the wifi and cdma data connection at the same time.

i just tested this on my verizon xv6700 and before the rom update the phone couldnt be used when the wifi was on (a simple registry edit changed this) but the new rom has this fixed in the registry so you can use both radios at the same time the problem is setting up the applications on the device that require a data connection to connect to one and another application use the other
