Dial-up Internet?
I will know more tomorrow when i get my phone and i will try it myself, i just dont see how I could not setup a Connection with #777 as the number to dial just as i do on mu ipaq.
I was at the Verizon store today and looked at the dial up connection settings on the i730 and Treo 700. Both used the same #777 dial up settings that we use on our own devices with our 815 and 710. So I am guessing the XV6700 will be the same. I would like to get this 6700 and not pay for a plan. The only thing I would be missing out on is the sync option to my desktop outlook. But I would rather pay $5 a month for a hosted exchange account to do the sync over the internet.

I have a plan that gives me 1400 minutes for $79 bucks, and that comes bundled with a $30 unlimited data plan.
When I was trying to get the data plan hooked up on the Treo, there was a glitch in the system and it was blocked until I called customer support & got it fixed. The device was dialing #777 and I did have the user name & password in place- so I guess you can't get broadband just by using your airtime minutes.

But even on the XV6000, how do they know if you are on a pay as you go or anything?
The phone must have an active data plan. Your options are:
$0 = pay as you go 0.015/KB
$24.99 = 20MB then 0.005/KB
$44.99 = Unlimited
These options are not counting the unlimited data combined with a voice plan options.
Pay as you go can be added to a handset but shouldn't. I did however see it once and the customer got a $1500 bill though they didn't have to pay most it.

Even if you keep your old voice plan you must choose a data feature. If you chose pay as you go you will be charged for all data.
