Can this phone be used as a modem to surf the web AND at the same time be used as a phone? I've heard you can't do both at the same time on Verizon. I've also heard the same thing from a Sprint salesperson. Can anyone confirm?

Thanks in advance.

correction... You can do them both.. I've used my phones' WIFI connection to browse the internet looking for movie listings while talking with my girlfriend on the phone at the same time. If your not sure you should try it then correct your statement... Hope this helps.. DL

I have been able to use WIFI and the phone at the same time. I have NOT been able to use EVDO and the phone at the same time.

If I am using EVDO and the phone rings, it disconnects the internet connection.

Hope that helps.

how can i get this to work? when i use the Wireless Manager to switch to WiFi, it turns off my phone. I have tried calling myself when having WiFi on..and it goes straight to voicemail. I am on Verizon, if it makes a difference.

Sprint PPC-6700 allows you to use the phone with WI-FI. Verizon XV-6700 does not let you do the same unless you hack the registry. Look for the post regarding Reg Edits and it will tell you how to do so.

DL, a question for you since you work for VZN. Do you recommend adjusting the Registry Editor?

sorry.. I just came accross this message. and yes.. I strongly reccommend Editing the Registry... *ONLY IF YOU ARE AWARE OF WHICH EDIT YOU ARE DOING AND WHAT IT WILL CHANGE ON YOUR PHONE* if you're not 100% certain of it's effects... DO.....NOT..... EDIT!!!! I've pretty much done about every edit available to this phone and have them all saved. I'll reformat how I have them saved and post them with details and instructions soon. As well as a fully operational registry editor.. I'm pretty sure everyone at one point or another was using PHM Registry Editor... That one doesn't work anymore.. I use "RegEditCe" now.. just google it.. I'll make a link in my next post in regards to edits... look for it.. And I work for Sprint.. Not Verison... :wink...
