Does the sliding QWERTY keyboard "lock" into place when closed? 😎

yes it does. It has a type of "click" that holds it pretty well... It "clicks" on both open and closed.. DL

Thank you 'darionlear'! So, the "click" slide sounds similar to that of its predecessor, am I right? Do you own this phone darionlear? If so, I have some more questions if you don't mind.
Thank you! 😎

Yes and no... The 6600 was more of a feeling of it slide into a lock. However you can actually hear and feel the click as it hits it's pins. I do own three of these phones. And you can ask as many questions as you want to ask. I will answer what I can. DL

Great, thank you for your response! I'm new to the world of PDA's/Smartphones/PPC's etc. I'm curious if the 6700 supports viewing/creating/altering Microsoft Word docs? Do you happen to know if it has this capability? I tried finding this info on the Sprint website & couldn't. It mentions Excel & Powerpoint but no Micro. Word...?! Also, some PDAs have a small (sometimes folding) keyboard that can be hooked up...do you know if it has or will have this functionality? I know close to nothing about Windows Mobile 5.0 but, what I've read about it sounds intriguing! Can you divulge your thoughts on Win Mobile 5 in comparison to prior or other platforms? If not, perhaps just the pros & cons of Win Mobile 5 in your experience with this device.

This phone has the full suite of works for the windows 5.0.. It does include word, excel and power point (for the windows 5.0 ver.) I use all of them on a daily basis and find them almost like the real thing. You can Edit, create and view just like on a desktop. As far as the external keyboard.. I don't know.. I haven't seen one but doubt it would really be any better than the one already included/built in to the phone. The one built into the phone (once you learn what buttons to use for shift, del, ect.. ect.. is very easy to use.. I can email via my outlook typing with the keyboard and have no problems.. Or I can use the transcriber (what I use most) to compose or write.. The transcriber mode allows you to just "write on the screen" whethe...

LOL! Excellent! I'm glad you mentioned the "transcriber" mode function! I wondered if this device would have that built in (assuming it's not a 3rd party app that you DL'd...?) & forgot to ask you about it! "Dirty envious looks..."!!!! I can't wait! This one sounds like a winner! My only hope now is that it has decent reception in Northern California. If so, I'll be quite content! Unfortunately, I must wait a long & gruelling 2 months until I'm eligible for my $150 "New For You" upgrade rebate!!!! Thank you for all the info you gave! I truly appreciate it! If I can think of anything else...you'll be hearing from me! Until then..... 😎

no, problem... and yes, the device does have the "transcribe" feature built in... And just a note: there is a web site that you can go to that will teach you how to "tweak" the registy of this phone to make it preform better and faster... Let me know if you have anymore questions... DL

Thank you for taking the time to enlighten me! I really appreciate it! 😎 I was disappointed to read your entry on a separate thread that said if you own this phone you cannot have unlimited vision/text, etc...?!?! That's extremely depressing! 😢 Looks like I may have more research to do.... 😕

well there is an update that I'm in the process of researching.. I was able to find a rep who did submit the order of esn change to my account and said that the vision and text would be kept on my account.. I'm still very suspicious but had them notate the hell out of my account just incase I get a huge bill for data and sms.. My invoice closes on the 18th and I'll be able to post an update to that... I'll let you know. One thing though is that this phone is not "Pictures" capable... You can not use your Sprint Pictures account with this phone. You can log into using the browser, but you cant send or recieve pics.. THAT SUCKS for me.. But oh well, the extra features make it worth while. DL
