A Repeated Subject/ Help downloading from my pc to phone

Ok I have read the posts about this subject and nothing has worked. My problem is I have put all my cd music into my laptop thru windows media player, but I am not sure if those files will be converted into a file the phone can recognize. I have formated my 512mb card to Music folder and Media folder and nothing has worked when I have it as music and i enter in the media player on my phone it shows and arrow icon but nothing happens when I select the file. what am I doing wrong

Or is there something else i need to get to download my music. I have a Image mate 5 in 1 reader and I am trying to use windows media player to load files to my trans flash
