The Scoop on free ringtones (take a look)

I've found this tutorial that uses the data cable to install free ringtones (note: this takes some basic computer knowledge and fidgeting.)

I had my ringtones installing in 2 hours and now I can put a new one on in less than 3 minutes (this includes editing my mp3 file to a 15-20 second clip and converting it to m4a)

I will try to check back here regularly if anyone needs any help.

It's quite awesome, I just installed a few ringtones last night, It was really time consuming and a few parts were a little sketchy (as in they didn't work the first time)

But don't give up hope. THIS IS THE WAY TO PUT FREE RINGTONES ON YOUR PHONE. IT REQUIRES NO (That's right NO) INTERNET. 😁

That's where I'm unsure what happened with me. I kept trying to switch back and forth between qualcom, samsung modes, and the sky modes and the first time I selected quallcom, it did not work, but then I went back and forth between different modes and went back to quallcom and that's when my info started showing. I then had to go back to either the sky one, or samsung and click the "read all" button and it got my security code.. If you can't get that to work at all, you can try the alternate methods of calling the support lines to get the security code.

The program seems a little rough around the edges unfortunately. At least there are alternate ways to get the code.

Hope this helps. This is by far the hardest step.

Yeah.. that should do the trick. I really wish I could figure out exactly what I did different to get my security code to show up. It's really nice once you get the files working. Free ringtones galore!

Ohhhh.. hahaha. man, you have to upload a little chunk of a song!

try this, grab a program called audacity, it's a free editing sound editing program. Then open up your mp3 you want to edit. Now find a spot that you want to capture, like 15-20 seconds of ringtone (you only need that much cause you phone will never constantly ring for a whole song)

Once you find the beginning of the section you want (I usually do that chorus) stop the player.

now click and drag the line where you stopped all the way back to the beginning and hit the delete key this will create the starting of your ringtone.

Now go 15-20 seconds ahead from the new beginning of the track and click and drag everything from the line to the very end of the track....

By the way, the "Export Mp3" Option is under the "File" Menu at the top of the program.

and Here's a link to Audacity http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/wind ows

Yeah that's very interesting. If I did that it would probably take a minute or two to transfer, something seems to be throttling the transfer rate. then again it's not like broadband or anything.
