Reception Question! Please answer ASAP!

I am hopefully going to be purchasing this phone this evening or maybe tomorrow, so the sooner the responses the better!

How is the reception/antenna power on this phone compared to others? Forget the fact that sprint may be good or bad, but how does this compare to the Sanyo's? I've had the VM-4400 the past 2 years and it's worked great, but I want to upgrade to the latest and coolest!

Some reviews give this phone 5 out of 5 stars, and most reviews are good. However, there are some complaints about reception, so if you own this phone and have had good or bad experience, I'd love to know! Thanks!!

Ive had this phone for 2 weeks now and it replaced my Sanyo 8100. The Sanyo had the best reception of any phone Ive ever had. This is almost as good. One thing that Ive noticed is that when I'm not talking on the phone the bars are a bit low but when I start using it they kick up to full bars so I don't know if this is a battery saving feature or just something weird to this phone.

So if you compare the phones when they are both in standby the Sanyo will be better.. but when you are talking this phone seems to hold a connection just as well.

Interesting about the bars being low during standby. Do you ever miss calls because of it? Sometimes my sanyo just doesn't ring and then 5 min later I have voice mail.

Anyways, thanks for the info!

I've only had that happen once and I was on a back road where I can hold a signal but its really weak to start.

Not knowing how these phones are designed I wonder:

1) is the screen reallying showing me the true signal?

2) is the sensitivity on this phone really any different than the other phone?

3) is the internal antenna vs the external antenna the difference?

But for me the bottom line was that everyone said that I sound clear.

Yea, interesting points. I'm going to be making the decision today. Unfortunatly, I'm now looking at the A900 (blade??) as well. It seems to be very similar, just the battery life is worse. I think the a920 has better sound though.

Well, I bought it. (The A920 that is). It seems great so far, but we'll have to see.

I think you'll like it. I was on some back roads last night where my old sanyo would work... this thing wouldnt. However, thats only one data point... but I really think my Sanyo had better reception but this phone does so many other things better that its worth it (unless Im broken down in one of those dead spots and then Ill be cursing this thing)

Well, I can't believe I'm saying this after all that, but I decided to return the a920 and get the a900 blade. I'm very happy with the decision to go with the a900, and it really is a MUCH better phone, unless you want the expansion slot. The battery life is better than some report too. Mine lasts through the day with no problem even when I play with it a lot.
