I wonder if you can use or get irc software for this phone, a friend of mine has a Verizonwireless Treo 700 and does it. Can I download and use this software? Has anyone done it.

Since the 700 is a WM5-based device, then whatever application he is using should be able to work on the Wizard as well--that's the beauty of Windows Mobile 5. In general, if it works on one WM5 device, it should work on another. The same could almost be said for the prior 2003 edition, but editions earlier than that were not quite as cross-compatible.

That's one of the main features really addressed with WM5--platform compatibility regardless of hardware. And for the most part, they've gotten there. It's not perfect yet, but it's a lot better than what we've had before.

In any event, back to your question: the Treo 700 does not come with an IRC application, which means he probably found one on the Internet and installed it to his dev...

Well got the 8125, installed wmirc, works like a charm. Had problems with it not accessing the web with explorer. Went to the cingular store, the saleswoman called cingular, they accidently put in wrong settings, in 5 mins worked.

Well gonna play with wmirc for abit, probably will register it, want to try another irc program first. Is there anyway it will display the channel members? It's not a big deal and I do understand the limitations of a pda vs. a notebook or desktop. Need to get a mini SD card, they are too expensive locally, want a 2 gig one, for what compusa, bestbuy etc. Charge for a 1 gig, I can get a 2 gig one online.

My bad, just now getting around to this, but that's a good question. I don't know which one or what the difference is between the two hehe I just downloaded one and I was good to go. I'm sure there is a difference but they really failed to point it out or if they did, it wasn't as obvious as I wanted it to be haha! As far as tweaks like the names in the chan, that's what I was wondering too. I'm still playing around with it and see what possibilities we have with it. If I find some good info out, I'll post in this thread!
