I will also post this in the Cingular forum hoping someone out there can help me out....

I work for a Cingular agent (the largest agent in my market). Last week our boss held a meeting and informed all 60 of us that he is giving us our choice of a data phone. He is wanting us to learn how to use Cingular's data program so we are more familiar with it when that customer comes along.

I have played with the BB 7100g and the 8700, the Cingular 2125 and the 8125, the Treo 650, and the Nokia 6682 to see which one I wanted to go with. After much research and frustration involved, I think I've decided to go with the Cingular 8125.

First off, let me say I absolutly LOVE this phone. I think it's a great phone and has more than I could e...

I have tried that and it does nothing. Still shows the E with the arrows up at the top (meaning I'm still connected). I got another suggestion out of the Cingular forum so I'll try that for now. But I'm still open to suggestions!!!! 😉

First, let me congratulate you on your selection of the 8125. I feel that this is Cingular's best data-device offering to date, and I think you will be very pleased with it over the long haul.

Ok, two things. First of all, even though you are "connected", you do not get charged for being "connected". Remember that on the data side, you only get charged for data being sent across the network (sending AND receiving). Just having the connection open doesn't cost you anything (it's not like a voice call where you are charged by the minute).

Secondly, on the pretty much all windows mobile devices, the connection self-terminates after so many minutes of non-use. What that means is this: Let's say you browse a web site at 10:00am. You browse ...

Aww thank you so much for the advice! I have followed some steps (start > settings > system > memory > running programs) to stop the connection. Of course I could always add on the unlimited data plan so I'm not worried about it, but I don't want to pay extra money out of my pocket for what my boss is wanting me to do. Doesn't make sense to me. After ending my connection, I push and hold in the red end button and that makes my E w/ arrows go back to the big E.

So far I'm extremely pleased with this phone and I'm sure I will be in the future too.

Now the challange is to figure out the Microsoft ActiveSync and get that to work on my computer.... 😛

To disconnect with ease. Tap the E, select settings, select connections, tap "manage existing connections", make sure "Cingular GPRS" is selected before tappping edit, then click cancel. The E will stop showing as connected after 2 secs.
