I really want the 8125. How did you get yours?
I really want the Cingular 8125 cellphone. I bought a dummy fake phone on eBay for $12. I am in the middle of my 2 year contract w/ Singler, and if I want this phone now, they want me to re-sign for another 2 year contract. Getting the phone would cost me at least $500 out the door. They might as well extract blood from my veins and sign over my 1st-born.
I decided I'd rather get into a "Hostel" than to sign up for another contract w/ the same company. How did you get yours?

The retail price of this phone is in the $400 - $500 range. The price is subsidized (discounted) by signing a contract. Why would any carrier take a lose on the price if you ain't willing to give them anything in return?

I bought mine overseas (Imate Kjam) during christmas a while before it released in the US. My friend got interested and bought one from T-mobile and didn't know what he got himself into and ended up selling it on ebay for about $330.
If you really want it i guess keep searching on ebay. The original name for this device is HTC Wizard so search for that and you'll get a mix of phones which are all the same just different branding. If u like the 8125(wiza100) form factor over the tmobile mda (Wiza200) then do a search for Dopod 838 and see if its cheaper. Btw these devices are really easy to unlock so if you do get the Mda head over to www.xda-developers.com to get an unlock tool.

I got lucky and found mine in a store, then ordered my wife's from the Cingular Web Site as soon as I had a chance to test mine and make sure it worked as I expected.
A lot of yammering goes on about a 2-year contract. People often do not realize a couple of key points about that. First of all, $175 for canceling is a big cost, I would agree. But if you are really unhappy with call quality, cost vs features/performance, or all your friends are on other networks and calling them is costing you lots of money each month, then it is actually a small price to pay to get to a "better situation". Unless you are just a couple of months away from the end of the contract.
Secondly, you only pay that if you leave to go to another carrier. If you ...
