T-Mobile Internet Plan with MDA

The T-Mobile rep at the local T-Mobile store just told me that in order to use the T-Mobile Internet on this phone, I need to upgrade my $19.99 plan to the $29.99 plan. Is this correct? I have the original $19.99 unlimited plan (w/o hotspot access) and would like to keep it at this price since I don't care about the hotspots.

Keep your $19.99 data plan to see if it works. Hotspots are not a big deal. IF it doesn't work then think about switching, but to me in my opinion they are the same thing without the hotspots.

I'm currently on one of the family plans without any additional data service and this phone works just fine for me.

If you already don't use and don't intend to use t-mobile hotspots, there's no need for you to upgrade your plan. This phone can hook into nearly any public hotspot, not just, T-mobile's pay service hotspots.

In King County (the county in Washington state where Seattle is located) for example, all public libraries have free an open 802.11b WiFi. This phone will work on just such a hotspot, without having to upgrade.

What plan do you have? I only have the $5.99 T-MobileWeb plan.

$59.99 FamilyTime Basic.
I don't have any Mobile/Web or SMS add-ons. This means, with the MDA, I can't use IM or surf the web unless I'm connected to the WiFi hotspot. Suits me just fine, though, because there are plenty of hotspots to hop on to.

I really don't want to pay $29.99 for a stupid hotspot add-on. They need to bring it back down to $19.99.

Don't you have any free hotspots in your area?

Is it a fairly new b/g router? If so, chances are good. The device uses 802.11x

I have a Motorola Photon 4G. I finally found wifi and the wifi in my house was shown. I couldn't ENTER the password because there was no keypad showing. How do I enter the long wifi password with numbers and letters?

I just got the MDA today. I'm in Seattle, WA. Basically I decided to sign up for the $29.99 data plan (aka total internet) because they told me (and I really looked into this) they will not sell me the GPRS/EDGE only plan ($14.99) it has to be a combo GPRS/EDGE ($14.99) + Hotspots $15.00) = $29.99

I'm going to travel around the city, use internet anytime I feel like it for one month and then decide if I really need it or not. I'm not sure I do, because I'm a medical student at the U of WA (free wifi in nearly all the hospital) and I have a WiFi setup at home.

If it turns out that I use the net away from the free zones, then I'll keep paying. But if I can get access most places, or only check things rarely... I can't see any need to...
