8125 vs. Blackberry

I asked about the availability of this phone saying that I needed something PDA-like and the salesman told me I should get a Blackberry hands down over the 8125. Now, I don't know if he misunderstood what I meant by PDA, all I really want is email, easy access to internet occasionally and a keyboard for text. He said the 8125 would be good for text but other than that you have to go with a Blackberry. He said Blackberry is the only thing with secure email. Does anyone know if a Blackberry is actually that much better? I'm thinking he might have been trying to pitch the Blackberry b/c he had it in stock. He said the 8125 is not a "smartphone", it is isn't it? Maybe I am misunderstanding what a smartphone is, but again, I don't need this thing...

First the 8125 will be out soon.(approximately 7-21 days) Second its is definitely a Smartphone. (One of the latest with most features) If you need one immediately, you could get a Treo 650, HP6515 or even the Cingular 2125, if you didn't want a large phone. Just compare each model here on phone scoop for specifics. Even include the Blackberry in comparisons, (up to 5 phones) that's the only way to know for sure. For what you want to use it for, I'm not much of a Blackberry fan.
