Turning itunes into ringtones?
It doesn't appear in the directions, but it seems like you should be able to do this. It seems like in the "sounds" menu (w/in "my media"), when you hit the smart key on "new imelody" (which appears under all of the ringtones currently in the phone), it offers you to switch storage devices...which then reads "trans-(and my itunes device)" or "phone"...which is the default. I assume this means there is an option to transfer from itunes. When you switch to the other storage device ("itunes") it just gives you a blank screen (the header is "sounds" and it reads "empty") and the only option is to repeat the tone, view empty space or switch back to phone ringers. But from there I'm lost. Any ideas or help?

The only way to make a ringer of an mp3 is by not using iTunes.. They disabled it because it can potentially be used for piracy. Although it would take too long to care...
The only way is to use existing mp3's that you have on your computer... And I would recomend buying a program called Mobile Phone Tools.
An actual mp3 is like 5 mb and that about all the memory the phone has inside the phone.. Mobile Phone Tools will allow you to transfer the mp3 and shorten it to just a segment of the actual mp3 so it won't take up all the space..
That way is the only way to use an mp3 as a ringtone..

When your in the sounds menu and you switch to the memory card from the phone this is another storage for MP3, separate from iTunes. you can add mp3's in this folder (mobile/audio) you can listen to these through the built in mp3 player (not iTunes). If you have windows xp (maybe some other OS's) open iTunes then connect your phone XP should give you an option to open files, then find mobile audio and add mp3's here (drag and drop) these won't show up under iTunes.

well you're not going to use a full mp3 as your ringer anyways so just cut the segment you want
