Insurance

The problem I have with purchasing this phone is that if I get it, Cingular wireless does not have an insurance plan that covers phones over $200. So I am too paranoid to purchase a high priced phone, without the ability to protect the phone with an insurance plan. So there is no "peace of mind" if i spend $700 and then accidently break it, i am out $700.

Does anyone know of a way to get insurance through cingular on this phone???

yea use homeowners insurance... Cingular now insures all phones (not pda's, or blackberries) Go to your cingular store and have them pull up the current "not covered by insurance" list. it was just updated, insurance now covers the razr, s710a, and other high priced phones.

I just called my insurance company, and they claim that they cover the phone only if it is stolen or involved in a fire. They do not cover lost or broken, which is really the protection that I am looking for - I use State Farm Insurance - so it is a reputable company.

Any other suggestions???

so if you break it or lose it, do a police report, toss the phone in a lake, and report it stolen to the insurance co 🙂 haha

there are a few company's that offer insurance outside of cingular. Not sure how reputable they are though. Website seems ok. I dont wanna make a homeowners claim for a cell phone.

You cant get insurance through Cingular at all for this device. You will need to get a rider on your home owners or renters insurance.

It is not that they do not insure phones over $200 dollars the razor is insurable and so is the s710. First off Lockline the insurance company they use usually waits 90days after a device comes out before insurance is available if it is different than a typical phone. But lockline will not insure Data Devices at all- so no - i have heard that there is a online cellphone insurance company though
