What the...?

I can't figure out why they think someone would want even LESS resolution than current Windows-based PDAs! Holy smokes, even the SMT-5600 manages 176x220, and that device is TINY! This thing's profile is ... significant, to say the least.

Less resolution...hmmm...let's see what that buys us. Less browser window, less contacts to view at once, less Word/Excel file to look at, pretty much less room for everything. But hey--at least the keyboard is stuck on permanently this time.

Come on, HP...ask your customers what they want. Stop guessing! HTC figured it out...why can't you? Hint: Siemens SX-66/Audiovox PPC-6600. Hellooooooo?

Ironically, HTC is the ODM of this device...

Oh no...you're kidding! Say it isn't so! And they were doing such wonderful things, too. Even the Palm Treo currently gives 320x320. 240x240 isn't much better then what a SmartPhone offers (176x220) and this thing is a LOT bigger. Yikes. What where they thinking?

I have to wonder how much design input HP had into this device's design process. Did HTC have this device and wonder who to market it to, or did HP have this device in mind and shopped around for a ODM and HTC took the job, or was there any real advice/collaboration between the two parties? I have to imagine that, left to their own devices (pun intended), HTC would have the good sense not to design something like this (based on their very functional and use-fitting past designs)....

this is a large screen with more than ample resolution... this screen measures 3 1/4" diag. (actual measurement with tape measure) the treo 700w has a 240x240 resolution and it is the hot item for the first half of this year. thankfully, the treo 700w will open up tons of apps for the 240x240 resolution screens. I also like the idea of having both a miniSD and a SD SDIO slot (Yes, BOTH slots are SDIO) I have tested the slots and got a 2GB mini SD AND a 4GB SD card to work at the same time... also i use a spectec miniSD Wi-Fi card as needed. this unit is uniquely versatile among those out now or those on the drawing board thanks to the presence of TWO extra memory slots. The only shortcoming is RAM at 64MB... The ppctechs.com RAM upgrade...
