Help.... I have already exchanged this phone once with Cingular. This "new" Z520a continues to have problems:

1) Phone just completely froze. Had to pop out batttery.

2) When earbud is plugged in, the phone sometimes calls the first person on in my phonebook (and I even changed the Magic word to something long and obscure).

3) Often, when I make a call or try to receive a call, the call connects, but yet I can't hear the other person. I just hear my own voice echoing (this is with the earbud).

4) About half the time, the hands free "Answer" command doesn't work.

Has anyone else had these kinds of problems? How did you fix it?

Sony Ericsson said they had never heard of any of these issues and suggested that I do the soft...

You may have exchange it because no one should have to live with those malfunctions. I know someone who has the Nokia 6102 and I like my Sony Ericsson much more because it is easier to navigate and you can personalize it more. The Nokia is good though.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply!

Yeah, the phone got even worse, which I won't bore everyone with the crazy details.... The amount of time that I've spent trying to get the phones to work and trying to get the service set up properly is insane!

I agree that the Sony Ericsson seems more easy to navigate than the Nokia 6102, which I wasn't really thrilled about switching to. I'm going to give the Z520a one more try before switching to the Nokia, hoping that the third phone will work problem free....

Thanks for the well wishes.

Well, my 30 day trial period has passed, and I am locked into a 2 year contract with Cingular.... I keep the phone turned off when not in use so hopefully as to avoid problems. And the battery life is not so great. I've had more dropped calls in this period alone (when on a call with strong signal strength) than I did the entire time with AT&T. I'm beginning to think it's the Cingular network and not the phone.... I shoulda hung onto my AT&T account & phone or switched to Verizon....

I'm actually not a heavy cellphone user, and the novelty of the phone has definitely worn off. So, hopefully I can get through this 2 year period without any more big headaches and then reassess my phone and carrier.

When you say earbud do you mean wired headset? I have never seen a port on my z520 where it will plug into....

Hi,

The earbud/wired headset plugs in the same port that you charge the phone.
