Does your Z520 drop calls?

OK, I got my phone this week. Very cool features and lots of fun to play with... But I get so many calls that are dropped I'm ready to take it back. Signal strength seems to fluctuate wildly while sitting still. Do you think it's just a lemon and try a new one? Or ditch it altogether and go Nokia or Motorola.
I live in a metro area and have Cingular which hasn't given me any headachs before.

Anyone else had this problem? (emailed Sony few days ago, and so far no response)

Mine did this at first, until I turned the phone off for a few seconds. You have to do this once a day. After I did that, I had no problems with dropped calls.

Recently though, I updated the firmware so I wouldn't have to turn the phone off every day. Since then, I have had like 5 dropped calls in the past 3 days! If the signal bars drop at all, my call is dropped...it's horrible.

I'm guessing yours has the newer firmware also since you got it this week. You don't live in Dallas, do you (that's where I live, and I'm having poor reception lately--at the same exact time as I updated the firmware)? I don't think it's a problem with Cingular--I'm pretty positive it's the phone.

How do you update your firmware? Through Cingular or SE? I live in OKC where Cingular is pretty big. I really don't think it's the carrier either.

I just got an email back from SE saying "Dropped calls are usually a result of network issue not the actual phone itself. You may want to try contacting your service provider to see if they have any options available for you." Yeah, right. I never had dropped calls before and there are 4 other cells phones in my house and they don't experience dropped calls either. I'm wondering if this phone is made in different factories...

Since you just got your phone this week, and Cingular previously pulled all the old z520a's off the shelves, I'm pretty positive you have the newest firmware.
