White external screen

OK.what is going on with my phone? I have had no problems but now when the phone rings or I get text message the external screen lights up white with a pale picture of a phone but now no caller name or number etc. Any ideas? I have changed wallpaper, turned off and on, took out battery etc. Still white when it rings. HELP. Now annoying cos can't tell who is calling when it rings unless I open the phone.
