SE z520a vs Moto RazrV3 vs Samsung D357

mobilephone

I just came back to Cingular (left Verizon) and have been using the SE z520a for about a week. I am 50/50 if I will keep it. I wanted to get some feedback regarding what you think the best phone is out of these 3 Cingular branded phones: SE z520a, Moto Razr V3 (black), Samsung D357. I am still in my 30 days exchange window.

My phones in the past have been Nokia, SE, then Samsung. I really want a small Nokia slider but my 30 day window ends this month. I mainly am concerned with battery, reception/clarity, ease of use, durability, voice dialing (for driving), easily fits in pocket, and looking forward to trying bluetooth. Lastly, I am in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Thanks for your time and help.

D357 is not as customizable as moto phones. We just took back our D357's and got the Z520a phones. Like them better. Traded mainly because we did not like PTT or could justify extra 20/month when mobile to mobile was free. Not to mention the looks when the phone beeps using push to talk. D357 was a cool phone but I did not like some of the menu features and the way Samsung set them up. Also, not many accessories. I like to sync with Outlook and there was not software and cable to do this. Z520a, I downloaded the software from sony, paired the phone with pc via bluetooth and had all my contacts within 30 minutes beginning to end. I imagine the moto does this as well though. But expect to add contacts on 357 via SIM or one by one.

I would go with the Z520. I upgraded to a SE w600 from a V551 and the reception and sound clarity is loads better, it really holds on to a signal. I figure that the Z520 would be similar since they both have a loop antenna. SE's UI is a lot better than moto's and samsung's too. The build quality of SE's is also great.

Also you should read the user reviews for this phone battery life seems excellent just like the w600.

I would NOT recommend the z520a until the issues with it are fixed. The phone is VERY nice when it works. However, you only get this niceness at the price of rebooting the phone at least once a day. I am about to exchange my phone for another model.

I'm currently looking at getting a D357 without the PTT service. I don't know anyone with this server so that's useless to me, but the rest of the phone looks perfect for what I am looking for. Right now I'm looking for other users with this phone to see what they say.

I like the features of the phone too, but I have to agree. I took my original phone back to Best Buy, based on the posts on this forum. My wife's phone has had no trouble (she has the Z520a too). The new phone exibits some odd behavior, but I haven't gotten to the point of pulling the battery like I did on the first one.

So, if you buy local and can get a good deal (our phones were free with new service), this phone is ok, if your source is good about returns. Best Buy was very easy to deal with.
