Hello, I recently switched over from a sharp tm-150 (t-mobile) to a sony ericsson w600i with cingular, the reception difference is amazing, I love the phone i love the design I love the features, however, about 3 times or so I noticed the phone turned off on it's own. the first 2 times it was in my pocket so i figured my jeans must have tightened up when i sat down and pulled down on the power button, but this last time I set my phone down on a table, did not lay a finger on it, then when i went to go use it I noticed it was off and I had to turn it back on. Is this a common problem among this model? is there a way to fix it? I dont want to send it back cause I hear they only send back refurbished replacements and I also have about $22 in d...

Thank goodness it's not just me!! I've had the phone for 5 weeks and other than this one glitch I've been satisfied. But my phone does the same, randomly turns itself off several times a day... even sitting completely still on my desk. Cingular and Sony Ericsson both acted like I was crazy when I contacted them to troubleshoot!

I got my replacement phone yesterday and it's up and running... no issues so far, I'm keeping my fingers crossed the bugs were a fluke in that particular unit.

hey kdawg, mind posting those sites where I could get free games, also are they the cool games like cingular has like doom and snoop dogg boxing? also, does anyone elses camera not take like really clear detailed images of things upclose, like for example holding a pepsi can right in front of the phone. an inch or two away, do your images come out clear enough to read like the nutritional facts or is it blurry from this range, thanx

rawdeal82,

I had the same problem on my W600. It kept turning off without warning. Try cleaning the battery connections and the battery pin connector pins on the phone. I noticed a film on both the battery connector and the pins on the phone. I used a #2 Pencil. Works great cleaning SIM chips as well!

As soon as I did this the problem didn't happen again. Not sure what caused the film on the connectors, but it seemed to fix the problem.

I'm sure there are other way of cleaning the battery connectors, but I didn't want to use anything that was a liquid. I don't want anyone saying I ruined my phone and it's not in warranty.

Let me know if this helps? It worked for me!!!

Take care!

I think the phone is designed to turn off on its own. If I remember right, on phonescoop's video review of this phone, the reviewer says that the phone shuts off when not in use to save battery power. Am I totally wrong about this? I thought that the power turned off when idle for a few moments, but if you push any buttons, it comes back on again.
BTW, I also have a Sharp TM 150 w/ T-Mobile and I'm thinking about getting this phone too. I've tried to research alot about the w600 and from what I've heard, it seems like a top notch phone.

johnlert22,

I've had the same issue with the W600i phone. Good luck calling Warranty repair or Cingular Service. I was hung up on twice and then waited 22 minutes in queue for a Customer Service Representative who gave me the wrong Warranty Repair Phone Number (again)!... I work for a telecommunications company and own a communications firm on the side - waiting this long and having reps is certainly something I would never do or like to see/hear of.

You are correct that the phone is set to shut off to save battery life if you do not use the phone for a certain length of time however when you press a button or the unlock switch the phone is to power on but it may pause to do so.

If the phone rings while the phone is in "sleep mod...
