This phone is a MAJOR downgrade from the A670

Yesterday I had the opportunity to test all the phones out at my local Verizon store and found the A850 to be a major disappointment. First of all, it looks cool online, but in person it looks like a cheap kids toy. It's not a classy looking black. I open up the phone and first thing I noticed was the poor quality screen, tiny fonts, and miniature buttons that I had to use my pinky to hit. The phone feels well built but with the toy like design and clumsy interface it's an absolute mess. The signal strength also seemed very weak compared to the Motorola V276 and LG VX-5200 next to it. Both the V276 and 5200 had full signal, while the A850 bounced around 2-3 bars. There were 2 working A850's there and both seemed subpar. You also can't change...

Thanks for the tip on the new 325. I'll be looking into it. I have to agree with what you said really on the A850. Not a real strong product imo.

I can't comment on the 850 but I can comment on the 670. Stay away from the 670! It has a defective hinge design that will break sooner or later. We have four of them and two of them have already broken. I like the phone overall but this is a fatal flaw. Verizon doesn't sell them anymore anyway so this is probably a moot point. I've been offered a free swap to an 850 for my 670 by Verizon which is how I came to visit this forum in the first place.

My sister insists on using the speakerphone, and neither one of us can hear her that well when she uses it. My mom has the Nokia 6256i and while it has no speakerphone, it does handle calls much better than even her old Nokia 3589i. I currently have the Samsung a650, which I got in August 2004. I had it replaced a year ago this month after I dropped the original phone and the screen cracked. It has excellent reception on it. I'm looking to upgrade in July, and haven't decided what I'll get, but my experience with Motorola has been that bad that I refuse to get Motorola again. My main issue with Motorola has been recep...
