Is it possible to have a BB just as a phone, ie if you just wanted to use it as a pda, witch it also does verry well, but do not need internet or e-mail, if you bought it online or from a private party, not the local cell phone store, since they will not sell this device without a data plan, could it be conected as just a phone>

Yes, I personally have a BB 7100g without a data plan from Cingular. I sync with the Desktop Manager using the supplied data cable.

I know you can get a Blackberry from Sprint without subscribing to a data plan because it happened to me. I actually wanted the data plan but they failed to sign me up, and I had to call customer care to get them to add it on my plan. Otherwise I would have simply had what you obviously want, a phone with a calender, task, and memo pad applications.

Joe, just find out was frequency is registered to your phone (i.e. the phone's ESN), then go by their store and tell them you want to activate the phone and get a calling plan. If you are not sure how to find out which provider the phone's frequency is registered to, just take the phone by any local store that sells that model and they will tell you who's network you must use it own (if it isn't theirs).
