New BlackBerry in January 2006 for Verizon? (And I'm not talking about the 7130)

I was in a verizon store today and a rep was helping me decide what phone to purchase. When I was looking at the Blackberry 7130, he told me to wait until January b/c Blackberry was coming out with a new phone and it was going to be sleeker and thinner than the 7130. Does anyone know if this is true? 😕

I read that the fabulous new Motorola Q PDA phone will be sold by Verizon in the new year. You can see all the pics on www.gadget.com

It's thinner, lighter and has loads more features that the BB - I presume this may be the phone your sales guy was talking about

Let's all not forget that this is a) a Moto device and b) a Windows device. The real business user will not want to trust a phone based on these two platforms. Unless of course he's simply after the "gadget" appeal. You want a real, productive tool, stick with the BB.

Yes because the average businessman has no faith or brand recognition in either the Motorola or Microsoft Windows names...

/sarcasm

Please realize many many people would disagree with you and call the BB an expensive device only really good for email. Your comments are indicative of two things.

1. you are a tech oriented person

2. you are incredibly ignorant of "real business users" and their perceptions

You assume everyone has the same knowledge, viewpoints and experiences as you, obviously not the case. Despite releasing some bad phones in the past Motorola is still an enormously powerful brand and has a large following. What about Windows? People are used to, and comfortable with, the Windows look. Also mobile 5 isn't a bad...

Wow, you take things a bit too seriously, eh? But, you are wrong on both counts. I prefer devices that work well for what they are supposed to do, so no, I'm not a gadget person. And secondly, I've been in progessional sales for over 20 years, so yes, I am a business person. And you really went out on a limb by accusing me of believing everyone thinks like me...can't find where in my post I said that.

Look, the Treo 650 on Verizon got terrible reviews, right? And when is the last time that a Windows Mobile product got good reviews? Put them together and it's not a good recipe. So I think it's OK to knock a device given it's track record. No argument there, even from you, unless of course you just like to flame.

Lighten up junio...

Thats great that you're in progessional sales.

Do Blackberries provide the best wireless email capabilities? Probably for most people.

Do they provide the best capabilities for business people who need other capabilities as well? Most assuredly NO.

What do I think mobile 5 has going for it? Pocket Word, Pocket Excel, and IE provide superior mobile office capabilities to blackberry.

If you only need email for your work, buy a BB. If you need any of those other things I mentioned which I know many people could use, go with a mobile 5 device like the 6700.

Also reading your post again, I will argue when you say people should get the BB because its a "real productive tool" you're main concern is email. You tell people that if they...

EV-DO Motorola Q gets official

Ok, one bit of solid product news out of Mobius today: we pretty much already knew this, but Motorola just officially confirmed that they're going to be launching the EV-DO version of their Q Smartphone in the first quarter of next year. They wouldn't go so far as to confirm which carrier is getting it, but it'd be very, very surprising if it wasn't Verizon. So what happens to the EDGE version of the Q they were showing off a few months ago? ...

VZW is releasing the Treo 700W in January. The only Blackberry on the horizon for VZW will be similar to the 8700 currently on Cingular. Best guess is June 2006. Nothing else Blackberry-wise is in the loop.
