Ringtones on Motorols V325

Purchased Nokia 6235i. Loved it, but Verizon disabled the caller ID. And 3 of my caller IDs would just show the number and not the name. Verizon had no idea why. Tried another one and it did the same thing. All the other callers showed both name and number. Purchased the Motorola v325 (had E815 but too big). My son is using it. The ringtones on the v325 aren't loud enough to hear in my purse. My 15 day trial will be up May 8 and wonder if I should try another v325. Anyone else have this problem? I like having the 2 minute alert for missed calls and voicemails. No problem hearing the alert. Has anyone else had trouble with the low ringtones or is it just my phone?
As for downloading mp3s, check out freeringers.net. This site is great....

Finally someone else noticed this!!

I think the ringtones that came with the phone are louder than the ones that are downloaded through GIN. Even when its on the highest volume I still have trouble hearing it.

I saw someone say that they record the ringtones through the recorder on the phone with the speakerphone turned on. I tried it but the quality seemed pretty crappy to me. I use the "standard" or "moonlight haze" ringtone for my phone despite my cost to download 2 ringtones because those are defintely the loudest ringtones in my opinion.

Other than the ringtone volume issue, this phone is excellent for everything else and I wouldn;t give it up for anything.

Thank you L7r for your reply. This board has been quiet for awhile. Check out freeringers.net. It's a great site and you can increase the sound of the ringtone when you make an MP3, etc. And you can crop a song to a section that you would want for your ringtone. Through Verizon, it's 25 cents to get the message, but I signed up for 250 for $5 a month with Verizon So I can practice and download so much more for only $5. So some of my own mp3s are louder than the ones that came with the phone. I love that site because I can download pictures from my computer which is better quality than the phone camera.
It's just a one time fee of $7.95 for the program. Just an FYI. Check it out.

Yes I too have the problem where I cannot hear my ringtone in my purse. I downloaded "Mission Impossible" ringtone from one of those sites you can access on your phone, and even on loudest setting I would miss calls. If there was ring/vibrate mode I would not have this problem!
My solution was to buy a small "cell phone pouch" that has a strap that attaches around your purse strap. That way my phone is hanging on the outside of my purse and I can hear it! If you are interested I can give you more info.

Thanks Hillzy. I have one of those pockets, but have a case on my phone and it's hard to pull it out, plus when trying to pull out the phone, the whole pouch goes up my purse strap.
Funny! I have to make a decision by Monday or Tuesday if I'm going to keep this phone. I really liked the Nokia 6236. Now that phone has loud ringers, but no missed call/vm alert
and it's a lot smaller.
I found a case on the internet that fits the v325 perfectly. Verizon's case hides the blue flashing light, just shows the caller window. This one has a clear front. Very nice.

Regarding the recording of rintones through the recorder, you have to realize that it is electronic and will recognize only a limited spectrum of notes and chords; it is not like the human ear. You have to experiment with it and not try to record complex musical compositions. Also, you have to have the volume on your CD player fairly high. I redid mine yesterday and had good luck with the following: Hank Williams: "Lovesick Blues" and "Baby, We're Really In Love"; Elvis: "Don't Be Cruel"; The Beach Boys: "Fun Fun Fun"; Satchmo (Louis Armstrong): "Ain't Misbehavin'"; Dukes of Dixieland: "Whispering". You need a good speaker system on your CD player and to record at the right volume. A little perserverence pays off. Recording at a high ...
