charger
Does this phone have the standard motorola charging port or does it have the new usb port??? Thanks for any info

That's correct. It has a mini USB port for the charger.

Dumb question here... will the phone charge if connected to a PC using a standard mini USB cable? I haven't been able to find that out anywhere. I haven't ordered the data tools software either.

I just plugged in my phone and the battery charging indicator did NOT come on. I don't know how the other person who replied arrived at their conclusion. It makes sense, the computer USB is not set up at all to send VERY specific voltage to a device, and then shut off (as when the battery is full).

I've heard on howard forums that if you install the drivers for the phone on your computer, than it can charge your phone with a usb cable. I haven't tried it myself, as I don't have this phone, but if you're interested you might try searching howard forums.

I did the real test. Last night my new phone had 3 of 4 battery bars. I plugged it into my computer USB. It shortly said "charge complete". BUT note that when I plug my Palm Zire into the same USB it also does not indicate that it is charging BUT does in fact trickle charge and will fully charge my Palm in that way. So I suspected that even though my phone said "fully charged" that the USB cable could be trickle charging it. Note that last night I have 3 of 4 battery bars. This morning, after leaving the phone plugged into the USB all night, the battery was stone cold dead and the phone would not turn on. I plugged it into the regular charger and it will turn on, after 1 hour of charging it seems to be taking a charge now. So to ans...
