Is there any point in assigning speed dial #s on this phone?

I didn't think I was quite *this* stupid, but I can't figure out how (or IF) the motorola v325's speed dial helps you, once you set the speed dial #s. Am I missing something?

On my old Samsung, if I assigned, say, speed dial number 22 to a certain phone number, I'd press 2-2 and hold the last digit, then the speed dial would kick in and dial the programmed #.

Speed dial also doesn't seem to affect the arrangement of the Contacts list on the v325. Apparently you can't alter the Contacts list at all on this phone--unless I missed something else.

Is there any actual advantage to assigning speed dial numbers on this phone?

Thanks for any information you can provide.

If you press the OK key, it will bring up the Contacts menu. Press option 4 to view your Speed Dials. You can Move a speed dial by pressing the OK key. This will take you to the first available (empty) speed dial number.

It's clumsy as hell, but you can jockey the numbers around. I only have about 8 speed dials I really care about, and I made sure they were numbered 1-8. (Well, 2-9 after the unmovable Voicemail speed dial.)

As for using double or triple digit speed dials, you're right. They don't seem to work the same way the single digit speed dials work. I'll look through the manual and see what's up.

What you're seeing here is legacy Moto software. This was always one part of the Moto software that I didn't like.

Thanks for the thought, but somehow I doubt the speed dial ultimately functions any differently from what I've seen - and what you've described.

What's the point of assigning any numbers other than the 1-9 speed dials if they don't give you a "speedier" way to dial than just scrolling through your Contacts list? DUMB design; makes no sense at all.

FYI - I was able to get the "1" speed dial reassigned to a different number besides my Voicemail. Go to your Contacts list, select Voicemail, hit "VIEW", then "EDIT", then scroll to the box where the phone # is listed (in my case it's in the "Mobile 1" box), then hit "Options", and voila! "Set Speed Dial" - and make your change.

Once you assign a speed dail, you dial the number, say 55 and then press and hold the # key to dial.
To sort the numbers, go into the phonebook, select menu- setup- sort by: speed number.

Thanks, this helps some. But it doesn't seem to work quite the way you've described on my phone.

When I press the speed dial number and the # key as you say (holding down the # key), all that happens is that the speed dial entry comes up on my screen. I still have to hit SEND to dial the associated number. Pressing and holding the # key does nothing.

Is your phone different, or does mine need some sort of update?

Sorry 🤭 i only use speed no 1-6 on my phone, but you are correct- you would then have to select SEND to actually call the person, but dialing the speed no and # will get you to the contact instead of scrolling through the list.

Thanks, but with all due respect, I have no idea what you're talking about when you refer to "phonebook". When I press the OK key I get the main menu, within which I have a "Contacts" menu. Under that menu there is a "Contact List" menu. Nowhere within these sub-menus do I get the options of "menu- setup- sort by: speed number" - or anything even close.

Are we even talking about the same phone here?

Does your phone have the Motorola menu or the Verizon menu? If its the Verizon then I dont know what to tell you, but on the Motorola menu (which is the same for practically EVERY motorola phone), you go into phonebook (which is the same as contact). When the list of all of your contacts come up, there will be the left soft key option, right soft key option and the 'menu' option- on my phone its four horizontal lines, on yours it might be the ok button. When you press that, there will be new, edit, delete,...,SETUP. Select- then there is view by:________, sort by: _______ and view:________________. In the sort by menu, there are three options: name, SPEED NO. and Email. Select Speed No.

Wow. Nothing like my phone at all. I guess I'm finding out about yet another way Verizon likes to play Control Freak with its customers. Although this time, it's hard to understand why they'd want to mess with a perfectly logical, useful function like the phonebook/contact list.

Here's how it looks on my phone: You get to the Contacts List by either pressing the right soft key or by going to the main menu (OK key), CONTACTS sub-menu, then "Contact List" (item 2). Once there, you have three ways to go: left soft key - "Edit"; right soft key - "Options"; or OK key - "VIEW". In "Edit" that's all you can do: Edit contact info for that entry. In "Options", you can choose "Erase", "Send Txt Msg", "Send Pix Msg", or "Call". (Gee, thanks.) In "V...
