On my old phone - Samsung sch-a530 - I had a long list of available applications from which to choose for downloading ringtones to my phone. Here are the names of just a few of them: MyTonz, Xringer, MIDIRingTones, Ringster, Modtones, Sony Music Box. (There were a few more, but I can't remember the names.)

Although it's understandable how people don't like the limitations on their freedom to download free stuff onto the VZW phones, GetItNow always gave me a pretty decent choice of ringtone applications. I could always find "cool" tones for my phone. No more, apparently.

The ringtones choices I have on GIN are: Modtones, Xringer, Sony Music Box, Ringster 3.0, MIDIRingTones 3.0, Yamaha Ringtones and Mastones, plus VZW Tones Deluxe.

Personally, I don't care enough about ringtones to pay the kind of money VZW wants for 'em. There are ways to upload ringtones to your phone, but I haven't bothered doing that either.

I like this phone, too. A lot! Since I posted this, more apps have appeared on the GetItNow app list and I've become aware that it has to do with the phone being so new. I guess they add applications as time goes on. Verizon's way of forcing customers to pay for ringtones that others get for free, and their notorious way of disabling high-tech features on high-end new phones is maddening, but... I agree, this phone is so cool, and VZW's coverage so good that I'm happy for now.
