How good is the navigation work? Can you set a location by the coordinates or just by an address? Also can you set it to record your location every so often to plot were you have been. How good is the gps signal if you are in the mountains or woods? Are there any firmware updates that will maks the gps like a Magellan handheld? Thanks for any help

I can't really tell you how it works, since the one time I tried to use it, it completely failed. Otherwise I can tell you that the phone, or any other phone, does NOT use GPS. Instead, they use triangulation between the towers. I guess they say "GPS" cuz people already understand that system. As far as I know, you can't input coordinates (because it's not a true GPS), nor can you plot waypoints. Also, the phone uses air time when you are using the NAV feature, so your reception depends upon regular old phone reception, not satellites.

I will definitely buy the first phone with a real integrated GPS, that does NOT require a subscription to use!
