Re: Reception status N91
The reception is pretty good, in Europe at least. The music player is good, and they've set it up nicely with a cord extender/control that interfaces with the phone. You can then plug your own headset into that.
This ensures that you have your headset controls for the phone, without being tied to a Nokia headset; You can use your favorite ear-buds, or your big honking noise cancelling set on the airplane.
The head phones that come with the phone, when plugged into the phone controller cord, acts as both headphones and a headset for phone as well. I haven't figured out where the microphone is. I suspect they've inverted the stereo on the headset and they're using it as a mic, but I haven't determined that for sure. The reason I mention this is because if you use your own fancy head phones while plugged into the control cord, it might interfere with the microphone action of the headset during a call. I don't know for sure.
If you're using a blue tooth hands free, it probably won't be an issue. But if you read my review, you'll know that this Nokia has issues pairing with bluetooth car kits, BMW in particular. So, you may need to invest in a new blue tooth headset if you intend to use it for music or as a hands free. Of course, your mileage may vary...
If you have any other questions on the phone, let me know.
P.S. I have the new firmware
on my phone. The battery life
appears marginally better, though
I haven't tested it fully yet.
The bluetooth still won't pair
with the car or the headset I have,
and the WiFi still cannot browse
on an encrypted network of any type.
