I really like this phone and some others I've seen with WCDMA, but at my house only GSM phones get good service (southern, MA) but if you go to the more urbanized parts it's all CDMA ( I only know because verizon and sprint get he serice out there).
Sorry if it sounds dumb but any clarification is appreciated thanks.
cesar1001 said:Yes, but WCDMA 2100 is not used in North America. Cingular is the only WCDMA operator here and they are on 1900 and 850 MHz. As such the phone's CDMA capabilities only work when you are overseas (roaming, for example).
I see that this phone and a few others have WCDMA in addition to whaterever netowrk type they support. Does this mean that phones that use GSM and WCDMA can make and receive calls on both networks?
I am not sure if you are aware of it, but CDMA usually refers to Qualcomm's set of standards (cdmaOne, CDMA2000, etc, used by Sprint PCS, VZW, Telus, etc), which is different from WCDMA. The two are totally incompatible.
