I have to say Im not very fund with GSM and I have had sprint, nextel and currently with alltel who I think I will keep but after seeing this phone, I think my alltel plan will be reduced to the lowest possible plan I can get and go with cingular and load this baby up with features to utilized everything this phone can do....I think Im in love....

Well, you can stay in love, because Cingular will not be getting this phone. If it goes to any carrier at all, it would be T-Mobile because there is no 850 band on it. Chances are though that it will only be available on Nokia's website without contract and with a very hefty price tag.

I don't know how long you've been playing around on phonescoop, but one thing you should know is that the listed info isn't always correct, esspecially when it is first listed. Ussually the phones are listed with the european and asin inormation then if it is coming to the states they modify the info to fit the profile selected by the manufacturer. this being just listed only means that the info is new. Sure it doesn't have the 850mhz frequency listed, but that doesn't mean it won't have it in the future. That being said you may be right, it may not be offered by Cingular, but if we are going by frequencies then there is more proof that it will be offered by Cingular such as the Edge and 3G features. All I am saying is that you are a li...

I thought that cingular worked with 1900 as well?

Although it is true that Cingular has 1900 the service is lackluster in comparison to their 850 network. I had an 6260 (Nokia). And at least in my area the service wasn't even close to the 850 frequency. Besides from what I've heard is that cingular will eventually dedicate it's 1900 frequency primarily to their DATA network. So it will ultimately become obsolete. But I would love it if nokia came out with a quad band. I took my 6260 overseas and it worked great.

Cingular is going with the 6270 but it's unknown if they will carry any of the N series everything now is speculation.

Still you can get it unlocked Cingular's coverage pimpsmacks T-Mobile's.

Cingular is 1900 on the coasts - but not the central part of the country. Their "Raising The Bar" campaign effectively takes credit for other carriers coverage by forcing the phone to always display "Cingular" on the screen, regardless of which carrier the phone is registered to. IE: If you have this phone, you live in Chicago, and you use Cingular, you phone will still display "Cingular" on the screen even though you're roaming on T-mobile. It will work on Cingular, even if they're not 850 where you life - It'll roam.

I live in the Midwest and I know this isn't true because I have a friend who has a t610 on T-mobile and his phone switches between Tmobile and Cingular networks constantly and the t610 doesnt have 850 mhz band. whenever he is out of T mobile coverage his phone registers Cingular accross the display even though he's using a Tmobile phone with a Tmobile sim card.

Cingular wouldnt offer something w/ WCDMA 2100 considering it would be completely useless. Also, something without the 850 band would be useless as well.

I dont think the information would be heresay on Nokia's website, maybe on here, but not on Nokia's.

They are really stupid! They want to make people look bad, but have no idea what Carrier supports what frequecy. Saying that it will come to Cingular, it will not. UNLESS, an 850 version comes like you said.

The N90 won't be available for Cingular, Period! The phone has 900, and not 850MHz, on the phone. If you get that phone, you won't have good coverage! Take it like it is: its straight from the Nokia USA website!

Keep in mind, part of Cingular's network (the central US "Genesis" network) runs on 850 - if T-mobile is in your area, I would choose them. To give you an idea of how well Cingular values their customers -- after how many years in existance, and now being the largest US carrier, Cingular *still* does not offer 24 hour customer support. T-mobile understands that phone problems will likely not stop at 7 PM - and even if they can't fix everything over the phone, at least they can work to assist customers with billing complaints - one of the biggest areas of improvement needed among wireless carriers.

Moral of the story: Cingular, with their 53 mighty million customers, doesn't feel it necessary to spend the money on offering 24 customer supp...

Been with T for 3 years, and not had a problem with their customer service. Thats why they won like 5 awards from the JD Power and Associates for best customer service, and wireless service.

Cingular does have an after hours customer service line for emergencies (i.e. your phone doesn't work, if you can call that an emergency). Otherwise, Care is open until 11 or 12pm at night. It all makes sense to me. How many people really need to be up at 4 am unless there is a serious problem?

i don't know the exact hours, but i don't think they go until 11pm or midnight. i've tried calling Cingular Cust Svc after I've gotten out of work late a couple of times and have been really disappointed that customer service was CLOSED. Especially after migrating from AT&T which had 24/7 cust service. I simply don't have time to deal with customer service while at work, so I need to be able to do this at night on my schedule, not theirs.

T-Mobile is the best. I don't have to come to Cingular just cause they have free M2M. Plus, Cingular basically has people coming to them, since they claim to be so big. To me they have lowered the bar on customer service, plans, and everything else. I would not go to Cingular cause they give a lot less minutes than T-Mobile does but for more money than T-Mobile.

Rural coverage. I've tried Vz, Tmo and Cing. I decided to go with Cingular, because of the rural coverage. I travel to VT almost every weekend in the winter to ski. Vz had mostly analog coverage up there, which was piss poor. Tmo just plain sucked up there. There seems to be very minimal 1900 deployment in any rural areas.

Unicel (RCC) has deployed an extensive GSM network in VT/NH/ME and they have a roaming agreement with Cing.

Also, rollover and the EDGE network are enough for me to say that Cingular is the best carrier out there right now.

I also think that Cingular usually gets the most innovative phones first. Well, I thought AT&T did, but now that they're absorbed, I made the migration.

I do agree that their custom...

I see everyone commenting on the customer service they receive from in comparison to tmobile and verizon. I do believe the customer is most def. the reason representatives are there but being i have worked on the verizon and cingular sides i would say its all about the same/customers complain about the same things no matter what company they are with/the trend seems to be if i can get what i want you have good customer service/or if you do what i think is fair you are okay with me/I went over my minutes and talked too much so i deserve a credit because your company is so large/ at the end of the day the cell phn companies have to stick to policies and procedures as much as they can its all about the almighty dollar/ tmboile to me sucks in c...

Go with T-Mobile! Better customer service, and better price plans. Trust me, you will be happy with T-Mobile. They have 24 hour customer service, and very courtious reps, Cingular doesn't!

They have a $45.99 plan that includes 1000 minutes with Unlimited Night and weekend minutes, Cingular doesn't!

i can clear this up for you. i work for cingular. any new phone nokia comes out with is usually first released to europe or asia unless there's a previous us version. I spoke with our nokia rep the other day. the nokia 6101 is going to be the first flip phone on cingular that nokia offers. the version listed on here is not correct it will not have push to talk feature yet. as far and the new n-series they are planning to send cingular engineer's some of those phone later this year with the 850 band. changing the band is as easy as just changing the transceiver. so for all you people wondering when this phone will be available. if it passes the engineering tests (400hrs) it could be on shelves as soon as december. if not then tack on anoter 6...
