Absolutely love this phone BUT...even with the Master Volume at its highest, the audio from my mp3s is almost impossible to hear without earphones. At its highest level, it sounds like two on a scale of ten of volume.

Is there a way to fix this? Or do I just have a faulty phone?

Help very much appreciated.

Are you trying to play it and listen to it as an mp3 player in your room or something? I didnt know that was possible. So you don't just have to listen to your headphones? SOrry, I am still getting used to the phone. Haven't figured everything out about it yet.

It should sound fairly good with out headphones unless you are in a very loud environment. Listen to it with the phone open and it will be louder. No matter what, though, you'll get the best, loudest sound from headphones.

Even in my office, it's perhaps a 4 of 10 on a normal sound scale at its highest. I guess you're saying that's as good as it gets?

The problem may have something to do with the volume level of your MP3 files rather than the phone itself. There is a free program called MP3Gain, which you can use to "normalize" the volume level of your MP3s.

In a quiet room, I get plenty of sound when the volume level of my phone has 3 bars showing. It goes up to 5 bars. Even at 3 bars I would want to turn it down if I was talking to someone in the room. (This is with the phone flipped open.)

Thanks, Roaz. I immediately went to MP3Gain but unfortunately it's Windows only, doesn't support my MacG5.
I appreciate your helping.

I have a Macintosh as well, an older G3 running OS 9.2. I always assume everyone else is running Windows; my mistake. On my Mac I use a shareware program called MP3 Trimmer. It's carbon so it runs on both 9.x and 10.x. It will do quite a few things including adjusting overall gain (on MPEG-1 encoded files only) and joining together several MP3 segments into a single file. My only complaint about MP3 Trimmer is that it runs a little slow, but that may have more to do with my old Mac rather than the application itself. You can find it here:

I hope this helps!
