I've heard some very evil thing that Verizon does with Bluetooth, disabling some of it's features, and I currently have another phone that is Bluetooth enabled, and what I want to know is if anybody knows whether or not my phonebook can be wirelessley transmitted to the 9800, if I decide to get it.

Sure, if you use Bitpim and either a data cable or a Bluetooth USB adapter.

Currently the verizon of BitPim which is out does not support the phone, so you can not transfer your phonebook through it....maybe in a month or so when the update comes out yes, it should.

Right now the only way to transfer your phonebook is via Bluetooth using the vCard file transfer. For me this proved to be a pain in the arse...I have over 100 names, 250+ phone numbers, and my old Slider was...

FYI -- over at Howards a Verizon employee said this about the 8100 phone: "Yes you heard it here the 8100 price increasing on the 11th to $199.99 with a $50.00 MIR. Today is the last day to buy it at the lower price. Good Luck!"...something to think about.

You can also use Get-It-Now to transfer your phonebook. Upload to Verizon then download to your new phone. I believe they charge $1.99 for this service, but I think it's worth it if you have a very large phonebook.

I know, I know, everyone hates giving Verizon any more money, but I think $1.99 is reasonable as a one-time fee.

Ahh...Yeah, lol.
Fer sure, fer sure, if it is, that easy.
Most folk's time is worth far more than that.
So your post is a potential, money saveing post.

I recently got this and I am gald I did. One thing that I like about it also is that I can edit my phone book from online...so if I get an email from someone with their information in it, I can just go online and put it on my phone then sync it with my phone. I think its a great idea and worth the $1.99

Is this $1.99 charge a one time charge or is there more to it than that? Thanks.

Its a $1.99 once a month. So you are spending $24 a year for them to store your numbers on their servers. I suggest that you wait for the Bitpim update. 😉

Yes, if you want an ongoing service you'll have to pay for it.

However, the original question was how to transfer a phonebook from an old phone to a new phone.

So, I repeat, for a ONE-TIME fee of $1.99, you can do it, then cancel the service after completing the transfer! Simple!!!

I have a question about that... so you sign up for the service... upload your phonebook to their server, then how do you get them on the other phone?? Do you use Mobile Web or what??

Once the new phone is activated under your number, you have to go onto the website from your PC and log in. Then there is a button that will update your phone book on your hand set.
